Starting to think about our 2015 trip, and I am trying to figure out which is the better time to go when we would have the chance for the better promos... Jan or Oct? (I know that no promo is guaranteed from year to year, but just based on past history, which times have had better promos then the other?) Tia!! :mickey:
January. October has become quite crowded with the F&WF and the MNSSHP plus fall breaks and other factors. As a result, not as many discounts. It's usually blacked out for the major discounts. January is a lot more crowded than it used to be with all of the South American groups, but still better than October.
Since youre asking about promos, is your question only "which is cheaper?"
Not really which is cheaper, just which would give me the more bang for my buck. Jan would def be cheaper for us, Oct would mean MNSSHP and my DD would be 3 at that point and my DSD would have turned 10, bumping her into adult status per WDW. Thanks for the responses!!:mickey:Quote:

In January you'll get typically lower crowds and it'll be cheaper. But you'll also get more rehabs and refurbishments. For example, splash mountain has closed for a few weeks every January for years and years.
In October, like you said, you have MNSSHP and typically less refurbed than in January.
January can be cold (when I went in 2010 it was 32 degrees for a week straight) but it also typically averages a high of 70 with a low of 50. This means some resort pools are closed for rehabs this time of year too; even if some are open, you might not wanna go in.
October will typically be warmer and more "swim" worthy.
I probably should've just stuck to saying "It's really subjective" because it is!
Do your months have any flexibility? If they do and you don't mind the temperatures being a warmer, September is a good month. The crowds tend to be lower than October until the first weekend of Food & Wine. MNSSHP starts in mid September.
The weather in September is warm but more stable than January where you can have major temperature swings.
If you don't have flexibility, I would look at January. October used to be one of our favorite times to visit but there is so much going on that it has become very crowd. At least in my opinion. :)
We've been in January and October, and I much preferred January. DH was a little upset that it was colder than we expected, but otherwise it was the perfect trip!
It also sounds like you've answered a bit of your own question...I would sneak in a trip before your kids "age-up" in the Disney system.
