We are at Universal today. Our first stop was the ride in Hogwart's Castle. One of our group members is on the bigger side and they wouldn't let her on. She left the ride crying. Are there any rides at Disney that we need to be concerned about? I don't want to put her through that again. I am thinking Soarin, but I think that is closed anyway. Any other issues you guys know of that I should be aware of?
Most all of the rides at Disney accommodate "Pooh-Sized" riders. My experience is with WDW more than DLR, but I understand they're pretty much the same. Before my weight loss I couldn't ride HP either, or several rides at Universal, but never had a problem with Disney. The only two that gave me a little trouble at Disney were the 7 Dwarves coaster and Splash Mountain but those were as much to do with my 6'4" height as width. I could ride them but they were a bit of a squeeze.
I was at Disneyland this weekend and can't think of any rides that she'd get turned away from.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience today. I certainly hope that they at least told her at the beginning of the line rather than at the end.
I have never had a CM not allow me on an attraction at DLR. I've never had a problem fitting on Soarin' (and it is scheduled as open, by the way). I find the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland and Goofy's Sky School at Disney California Adventure to be a tight squeeze, mainly due to design as I've heard the same from much smaller riders. I thought that the Silly Symphony Swings at DCA would have a weight limit but CMs (at least on the day that I asked) said there was not.
My older daughter and son did a day at Universal by themselves in November. My size-18 daughter left as disappointed as your friend did. One of the HP rides did not have a ride car out front like many of the other thrill rides, so she did not know until she was in the actual ride car that she did not fit. She left the ride upset. She didn't fit in any of the other thrill ride seats, either, (though, thankfully she was able to try out the seats before getting in the line) so there wasn't much at Universal that she and my son rode. It was a waste of money. I never thought that she wouldn't fit! I fit on everything at Disney World, and I'm a size 24!

Definitely avoid Goofy's Sky School, Gadgets Go Coaster, and Matterhorn. Soarin is actually very roomy and it is open. The Rockets in Tomorrowland are hard to get in an out of as well, although they are roomy inside.
Years ago, at the Universal in FL (the year Harry Potter World opened), there was a seat at the beginning of the ride, my rather large father sat in it, and fit. He and my BIL stood in line for 2+hours and when he got to the seat he didn't fit. They basically called him a liar, and made both my father and BIL (who fit fine) leave the ride. My BIL ended up riding it, after my father complained to an employee. He's never had an issue fitting in rides at Disney.Quote:

She was too scared to go to Disneyland with us last night, so she stayed in the room. I pulled my son to the side and told him that wouldn't happen at Disney. I haven't seen them yet this morning, but he is very good at making his gf feel better. Hopefully she will feel more confident today.
Update - she was very hesitant to go on the first ride today at DCA - tower of terror, but we didn't have any problems whatsoever. All smiles now. :)
