How is the weather in dec/jan we are thinking of going for xmas new years week
It could be highs in the 50s lows in the 30s like this year or highs near 80 low in 60s like the year before. Average is in between.
Florida in winter is like fall up north.
You will need a jacket at night / early am. Maybe even a hat and gloves particularly if it is windy. But mid afternoon you will want to shed it all.
As noted it's extremely variable, but check the historic weather conditions page in Info Central for exact conditions over the last 5 years and you can see for yourself what you might experience.
We were there New Years Eve, just a few months ago. It was downright cold!! We couldnt swim, we wore jackets and were bundled up with hats scarfs and gloves at night. BUT it does vary from year to year.....you really never know what you are going to get. Its still all a whole lot fun!!!:mickey:
I was at WDW for the dawn of the millennium, I remember going from a winter jacket with gloves on Xmas Eve to shorts and t-shirts on New Years Eve!
I would pack appropriately, which means you'll probably need a couple suitcases depending on the length of your stay.
We were at WDW Jan. 6-14 of this year and it was cold! They had record lows overnight and all they were talking about on the local weather reports was the "Arctic Freeze" that was affecting the orange crop. We had to use a credit card to scrape frost off our car windows a couple of mornings. We packed t-shirts and shorts and ended up wearing jeans and sweatshirts the whole time. Also, for the first time ever, we didn't go swimming at all. We went on the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage on a night when it was 38 degrees. They gave everyone on the boat blankets! There were some people from Minnesota on the boat and they were joking about missing the weather back home. On the plus side, the crowds at the parks were very manageable. The weather can be hit or miss though, because it was very comfortable when we went in January of 2009.
