Star Wars
I'm not sure where I should put this thread so, since it has to do with getting ideas for my sons MAW I figured here would be good. He is a HUGE Star Wars fan and I was wondering if there is anything special he could do that related to that. I've never paid that much attention to Star Tours so I don't even remember if they have any of the characters. I know MAW can arrange meetings with certain characters and things so I wasn't sure if anyone has any ideas in this area.

There's no Star Tours characters, but there are live characters around the Jedi Training Academy (Darth Vadar, Stormtroopers and Jedi Master). A couple of years ago a good friend of mine who is a Disney exec got us a pic when them (they don't normally do meet n greets except during Star Wars Weekends) so that might be possible if you asked. If your son is really a huge Star Wars fan, you might try to do your MAW trip over a Star Wars Weekend. During that time they have tons of characters and even some of the actual actors and actresses from the movie.

thanks, when is the Star Wars weekend? Do you know?

It's every weekend May 20-June 12. You can see the announcement on the official Disney Parks Blog here. They haven't given a lot of details yet, but that's also when the new Star Tours ride opens, so it'll be big. Check Info Central here on Intercot for previous years' info with the types of events so that you can gauge what to expect.

Star Wars Weekends
1st Very crowded
2nd Usually includes Friday which is more manageable.
3rd FUN to see random lesser characters on the streets or next to you in line.
4. Special photo ops available. One was a background of Spaceship hatches you could stand in front of for your own picture.

There are special meet and greets with actors from the movies; it may be possible that your Florida MAW coordinator may be able to arrange for one (or all) of them. If not, you have to be there when the park opens and run to get a Fast Pass for them (for each individual one).
The Star Wars Weekends are amazing and your fan will have a great time there. Try to go on a Friday when it is less crowded (it does get very crowded); don't miss the parade and try to get to the shows.

thank you everyone. It sounds like he would love it, and I hope I can talk the hubby into it. He is worried about our son missing a week of school, but if we do it near the end of the school year they really don't do much in 2nd grade then anyways.
