Thanks!
I stayed there for the 1st time in March. It really is a beautiful resort.
Be sure to try out the night vision goggles - very cool!
Just a heads up in case you have small children who like balloons, balloons aren't allowed at AKL.
We stayed there for the first time 2 weeks ago and LOVED it! So pretty and relaxing.
The one time we were there (about a year and a half ago) we loved it! Especially having a Savannah Room view. Enjoy!
Kidani or Jambo?
We stayed at Kidani with a savannah view last year and it quickly became our favorite resort. Just try to enjoy the resort. Watch the animals, relax in a chair outside. Try dining there. We ate at Sanaa on our first night and loved it. Almost every meal compared to that one.
We liked it so much that we will be back in October after our 3 night cruise! :mickey:
It's my favorite.
Dario, congratulations and have a great trip!
We stayed there once and had a magnificent time.
My favorite resort. Loved the quiet, exotic feel. Love the gift shop. Love the pool and watching the animals. :) Hope you will post a trip report!
We have stayed here multiple times and it has always been wonderful. We love that it is kind of out there by itself. We love the quiet and taking a break from the noise and activity of the parks. Just explore. I read once that AKL has one of the largest selections of museum quality African artifacts in the world for a hotel. These items are tucked into all kinds of spots. We think that AKL has one of the best gift shops for a resort. We like that the two hot tubs are tucked away and quiet. Never had a problem with the bus system or the travel time to the parks. The Mara-the food court is right off the pool area and has a nice shaded eating area outside. Go Enjoy!
I love this resort. It never feels like it has all the hustle and bustle of other resorts. Maybe it's the dark wood or the smell of the firepit in the lobby it just seems quieter. Loved watching the animals, I could spend hours looking at them.
I like the pool with all its hidden areas. You don't feel like you're sitting on the pool deck with all the little windy paths.
We never had a problem with the buses, just remember it's going to be about a 20 min. bus ride to the 3 parks. It would take about 40 mins. to get from our room to one of those parks. AK is about 5 mins. away.
Word of warning: we stayed there when DS was 3 and it took over 1/2 hour to get to the bus stop. Every time we saw an animal we had to stop and watch it.
About the balloons, DS had one and we didn't realize you couldn't have one. What they did was take it and give a flat one that we could fill up later.
I think you'll really enjoy it.
I loved it there last summer !! It was our first stay at AKL and we had a room on the second floor, Savanah View.....we had animals at our balcony every morning !! The resort has to be the best one that Disney has to offer !! I hope to upgrade to it this June from Riverside !! Wish me luck !!!!!!!
Eat at Boma! I stayed at AKL 4 times and never ate there, (It's a buffet and I'm a small gal that doesn't eat much). On my 5th stay at the resort I finally ate there, and I LOVED it! Wonderful soups! I feel stupid now for skipping Boma on my other trips. :p
Boma is a great place for a quieter breakfast buffet. You won't find characters or Mickey waffles, but there's still a lot of great food.
I have stayed there twice. Love it. Make sure you check out what activities the AKL has scheduled for the time that you are there.
We stayed there three summers ago and absolutely fell in love. We love the feel of the resort as a whole. Definitely take time to explore the lobby and the savannah overlooks. We spent a lot of time just wandering around appreciating the animals, the lushness and the attention to detail. Boma is one of our favorite dinners, and though we didn't have breakfast there it always smelled wonderful in the morning! I loved window shopping the gift shop. If you have a savannah view, I highly recommend getting a breakfast to go from The Mara and bringing it back to enjoy on your balcony. Also, in the late evening it's worth peeking out at the savannah. One night we were treated to the surprise of six giraffes showing up a few hundred yards from our room to eat around 11:00!
We are planning a trip back the sunner of 2015the and even though we were planning on trying to stay moderate or even value, we've already decided that we're heading back to AKL.
Love this resort. So peaceful. Love to roam the grounds and watch the animals. I love the giraffe's. Restaurants and pool is great. Bus service is good. No sharing of busses which I love. People complain that it's a long bus ride to the parks; but it really isn't. What is an extra 5 minutes on the bus when you're staying at his lovely resort. And the gift shop --- one of the best in my opinion.
Enjoy!!
YES , Boma is GREAT !! We have turned that into our traditional last day breakfast, no matter the resort we stay !! Boma's breakfast has to be the best breakfast on Disney property !! :mickey::thumbsup:
Its our favorite resort by far!! You will love it. One thing, it is a very long resort, so I usually try to request a room close to the lobby. Last time we were at the very far end, and it was a long walk (especially with a toddler in tow).
All of the dining is fabulous. I also love the Victoria Falls lounge. They have the most amazing wine list.
