April Trip - Lots of questions!

We cancelled our annual 2 week trip in October. We plan to go in October/November this year as all of us should be vaccinated by then. Actually, we should all be vaccinated by March as we are nurses, long term care workers, old, LOL, etc.

My questions are for those who have been recently. What is it REALLY like at WDW? How difficult is it to get a park reservation? Can you get in most days if you wish?

How do they manage the lines for attractions? Is distancing enforced? What are the wait times like? There is no fast pass, right?

What about meals? We stay outside in a timeshare so tend to eat most lunches at counter service and get dinner in town on the way back. Does Orlando/Kissimmee feel "safe" in terms of the COVID?

The Covid numbers in Florida are pretty high right now.

There are many more restaurants opened in Florida than there are in many other states with more stringent Covid mitigation issues. There is no state-wide mask mandate in place in Florida. You will have to judge how safe you feel.

I've only been to one park - Epcot - since Disney World reopened. While there were quite a few people around, folks were wearing masks (Disney requires them) and it didn't feel like we were overly close to anyone while we walked around the park. Since our visit, however, Disney has increased capacity from 25% to 35% so I can't speak to how crowded it may feel now.

We did not go on any rides while we were there but did observe six foot markings on the exterior of many building that house rides. The day we visited, we did not see any lines that actually protruded out of the building(s) and used those markers. I understand that Disney has recently been seating people more closely on some rides than they did when they first opened. I've heard that wait times vary with the more popular rides, naturally, having longer wait times than others.

A variety of Disney dining locations are open though some remain closed.

I went for one morning in December to Animal Kingdom because I was on a mission to get something for someone (BTW - there are NO medium stuff giraffes for sale anywhere in Animal Kingdom). While my trip was unsuccessful in getting what the person was looking for, I did take the time to ride the safari because it was walk on. I spent two hours in the park and then went home. I got there at rope drop time. Everyone was wearing the mandated masks and CMs were on the look out for those not wearing them correctly. On the safari ride, I was a party of 1 and had the whole row to myself. There was plexiglass between each row. As I walked through the que there were makings on the ground for spacing had it been needed. I have had some CMs tell me that Disney has quietly gone to 50% occupancy, however, that has not been confirmed but I have heard it from more than one CM.

The boarding groups keep filling up quite quickly for the star wars ride, so that tells me that Hollywood studios seems to have a lot of people. I am going for 3 days in February just to check everything out more, which will be two weeks after I have had my second covid vaccine. I had no trouble getting the parks I wanted, but I have onsite reservations so that gives me a little advantage.
