Unhappy Sad day for Steeler fans - Myron Cope has passed away

Myron Cope was a Pittsburgh icon, as much a part of the team as the players themselves. He was part of the radio broadcast team for 35 years before his retirement in 2005 as well as a sports writer / broadcaster for ages. He's also the inventor of our Terrible Towel. He's been battling poor health and repeated, long episodes of pneumonia in the past several years. I know that I for one will sorely miss him.

Sorry to hear. While not a big fan, I did know of and respect his work. Our thoughts are with his family, and the Steeler nation.

Being life-long Steeler fans, born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, DH and I were very sad to hear this news today. It almost brought tears to my eyes. Before his retirement, we always turned down the TV and listened to Myron on DVE during the Steeler games. I was so sad when he retired a year shy of the Steelers going to the Superbowl, and I am much sadder today. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all of Steeler nation.

We always listen to the DVE broadcast too whenever we can. I love Myron and I actually did shed a few tears today and probably will again tonight as I watch the tribute - there was just something about him.

    Unhappy

I saw this news when it happened and it made me sad. Myron was a fixture in the burgh for so long- his nightly radio show was so much fun- and once you knew his voice you didn't want to hear anyone else calling dem Stiller games. A class act in a time when class gets harder to come by every day.
