    Default ADHD/Asperger's

I have two kids with ADHD, and a nephew with Asperger's. We are planning a trip together for next spring. Someone told me that there are special passes that are available for families with children with special needs. They are supposed to allow you to wait in lines that are shorter, and less stimulating. How do you get these passes, do I show them a doctor's note or prescription for their medication?

You can ask for the pass when you get to the park from the Information/Customer Service counter. A friend we were traveling with used this pass in 2006. I don't believe they had to provide any kind of proof of disability. The pass allows you to use the fast pass lane for all rides.

    Default Special Passes

I went in 2007 with my 2 sons, 1 is autistic, 1 has asperger's. I did bring a doctor's note just in case. I went up to the customer service window outside the Magic Kingdom and explained my situation and asked if there was anything they could do for me. The female cast member gave me a pass for our family of 4 for our entire length of stay. We were able to use the fastpass line for every ride. It made it fun and comfortable. No breakdowns in line was a nice thing to not have to worry about.

What you are referring to is called a Guest Assistance Pass or GAC. You do not need a note from the DR. In fact in many cases the CM's will not even look at it.

What you need to do is explain what kind of accommodations that are needed for your child. They will then put a stamp on a card for you to show the CM at the rides and shows, and if it can be accommodated they will.

One thing that I have read that many with ADHD and Aspergers found the most helpful is a stroller as wheelchair sticker for their stroller. This gives the child their own "safe, buffer zone". It will allow you to take the stroller in line with you.

For more ideas I have found the book out there by Passporters called "Open Mouse" very useful for all sorts of needs. They have a section in there just about ADHD and Aspergers.
    Can I go "home" yet?

Thanks for the help. Hopefully it will make the trip less stressful.
