Default Swimming with sharks at Typhoon Lagoon

Is this something anyone can do? Does it cost extra? Do you need to make a reservation?
    Thanks!!

It's included with your ticket and you can ride it whenever you want to. It's salt water and it's a little cold, but it can be very refreshing on a hot day.

There are two sides. One side is for snorkeling and the other side os for certified scuba and it is VERY cold <LOL> however I suppose if you are going in a very hot month it would feel refreshing. We have gone in April & May and the water was freezing.

Anyone can do the snorkeling side - and it's included in the cost of your ticket so you can go as many times as you like. The scuba diving side does have a fee and may be scheduled depending on how busy it is. The snorkeling side is basically a straight across the pool gentle swim - no kicking, splashing, etc - at the surface of the water.

    It's included with park admission.
But is this something anyone can do?
It depends. You are not allowed to hang onto anyone else, stop or pause for too long or use flotation devices.
You basically have to tread water in a 15 ft deep pool for about 40 feet.

i would not suggest it if you are not a strong swimmer. It is very neat, DW is not a very strong swimmer and she had some trouble.

I agree. My son gave up because the water was too cold and he couldn't manage the snorkel with the cold water making him so shivery. So anyone can try- there's an area to practice with the snorkel before you actually start out. But not everyone will want to actually get across. You can change your mind if you get up there and decide it's not for you.

it is lots of fun and free with admission, I had trouble with the snorkel myself as the water was cold and I was having trouble breathing through it so I just swam with out it and used the mask, lifting my head when I need to breath. If I recall they did have life jackets ...you could use but don't quote me on that as it has been a while since I have done it.

They do have life jackets available and a lot of people used them (young and old)...Tyler is a great swimmer but opted to use a life jacket becasue yor are not really allowed to "swim" it is just a slow float across the top of the water. He was 9 when he did it and loved it but he did say the water was very cold.
