    Default Scooter Sun Shades

We are renting a scooter for our upcoming trip from an outside company. I remember seeing ECV's with a canopy. The cost is minimal and therefore not an issue. Would you get the canopy or does it get in the way?

I seem to recall having rented an ECV that came with it and the first thing I did was to take it off. It was kind of large.

When we rented an ECV with my Mom, we didn't get the sunshade, and really had no use for it, she was just fine. She wore a hat, and kept cool without issue.

We did see a woman with one, and she really struggled with it at one of the shows, where she had to put it down, so as not to block those behind her.

It seems like it is more trouble than it is worth, at least in my experience.

I have heard on other sites from bus drivers that those sun shades are a pain in the rear. They get in the way of the scooter driver for seeing where they need to back up, and then it is in the way for the driver to tie down the buses.

Then if you are going to be courteous to those around you at shows and parades, then you need to take it down so that others around you can see. It seems like a trouble that is not worth it.

It is also very difficult for the driver of the scooter to see those who are coming up from behind them.

Maybe that is why they are so inexpensive I think I'll not bother with one and see how it goes.

I have my own personal scooter and I have never found a time that I needed a sunshade. A good wide brim hat will do just as well and is a lot easier to deal with.

    Thumbs up

They need brake lights on those covered scooters. Riding in my own chair In crowded areas its hard to see around them.
