    Default Another Wheelchair question

Does Disney rent "wide" wheelchairs? My mom is larger and would need a bigger wheelchair if possible.

We are also thinking about renting one off property and bringing it with us. Are there any security issues with not getting the chair back? (similar to strollers) I know it would be just the time we are on rides that we would not have it, but it's still a concern.

    Thanks again!

Wheel chairs are first come first serve at the parks. You should rent one to know for sure you will get one. It will also be cheaper to rent one for your length of time you are there.

I suggest that in order to get one to fit your Mom the best, would be to rent from an off-site company. There are many out there and most are even cheaper than Disney. Just do a google search for wheelchair rentals-Orlando. You should find several companies.

I'm not totally positive, but you might want to see if the wheelchairs go by weight of the person like ECV's do. Just something to be aware of.
    Can I go "home" yet?

We've rented a wheelchair for our DS the last two years and have never had any problems when we leave it at any of the 'wheelchair/stroller parking lots'. Disney gives you a nametag to put in a sleeve on the back of the chair so you know you are getting yours back every time. Alot of people will tie a ribbon or something on the chair as well to help identify it.

We had the opposite problem for my dad...I wanted a smaller wheelchair as he didn't weigh much and I'm on the weaker side and I would have him myself (without hubby) for a few mornings and I would be the 'pusher'...we rented from Apria...and they delivered and picked it up...don't know the price...so, we got a youth chair which was very nice and easy to push.
