Update, Update on Insulin pen Cooler

My lady friend did a long term test on the Insulin Pen Cooler. She cooled it with at least 30 degree water as directed.

the cooler was still cool after 3 days. She also reported that the gel was just starting to return to its crystal form.

She gave it a rousing

She is glad that she found it, and should be great on vacation at DW this August.

I just ordered the cooler this am. I got it through Cooler Concepts. I did priority shipping so I should have it in 2-3 days. It is being shipped today

They had a wide variety of colors, I chose purple

If you think it's getting too warm and needs recooled, most CS locations will give you a small cup of ice water to use to rewet and recool it.

Is that for bottles of insulin? To keep them cool. We are going on a road trip and I have been looking for something that I can plug into my car cig lighter and an outlet at the hotel to keep DD's insulin cool.

No plugs. The coolers have crystals inside and when soaked in water they activate into a gel that keeps the insulin cool.

I did a Google search for Frio Insulin Coolers. Several came up, Cooler Concepts is one of them. I chose that one because the color choice.... they had purple and I like purple

They all run around the same price, $19.99 plus the shipping. Mine was $20 plus 6.60 priority shipping. The regular shipping was $4.50. I can't wait until mine comes in to try it out. They have all kinds of coolers, for vials, for pens etc. I just got one for a single pen to start with. When we are able to go to WDW I will get a larger one for vials/pen combo.

My insulin cooler came today

I was very supprised when I activated the crystals and found that if forms a pouch to fit the pen. When it arrived it was totally flat, I could feel the crystals.

I got the single wallet cooler, but I was able to get a second pen in the side next to the cooler. That should work great for traveling since the un-openend pen can be in the cooling pouch and the open one next to the pouch. Both pens felt cool. I will get to try it out on Saturday, and will let you know how it worked.

I got to use the insulin cooler yesterday at DL. It worked great. The weather was warm but not too hot and the cooler was cool the whole time. I love not having to worry about the insulin getting too warm.

I used the cooler again on Saturday. I had it well soaked and ready to go. It worked well again.

I did have one problem with it. I put the pen in cap side first/down. When I went to take the pen out the cap stayed inside the cooler which is not a problem while I was out. When I got home I couldn't get the cap out. I left the gel pack out over night and was able to get the cap. I tried putting the pen cap side up. I think it worked better. To take the pen out I just took off the cap and was able to then pull out the pen. The cooler is very tight with the pen in it. Another option is to just put the pen in without the cap.

Just fine tuning my cooler usage. Itchy, I hope your friend has a good time and that the cooler works for her.
