    Smile Golf Carts

It has been about 10 years since I stayed in Ft Wilderness and I know back then I saw a few people with golf carts. Are they a real necessity now? If you are catching the boat to the MK is there a place to park? Can you drive them to the TTC? I know my boys would love having one while we are there but do I really need it?

Of course they are not a necessity, they are a luxury or least a convenience. You can get around perfectly fine without one by using the internal bus system at FW, but God forbid, you might have to wait 2 or 3 minutes at a bus stop. Although there may be more campsites now, Fort Wilderness is no bigger now than it used to be. But of course using a cart is more fun than riding the buses. It's up to you to decide if its worth it. if its worth it. Rental is now approaching $60.00 per day.

You can park carts at near the boat docks at the lake. You cannot drive them to the TTC. You have to bus to get over there.

Agreed. While the carts are much more common these days, they are a fun have rather than a must have. Their biggest benefit is in no longer having to wait on internal buses

We stayed in Fort Wilderness a number of times and, much to my daughter's disappointment, we never rented a golf cart. It is certainly not a necessity.

We just returned from a trip to the cabins with the three grandkids in tow. The internal buses were very efficient and we never waited more than a few minutes for one. It was fun to see the carts decorated for Halloween, but it is definitely not a necesssity to have one.

If you are visiting during the Christmas season, it is so fun to rent a golf cart and cruise all the campsites to see the decorations. Some campers put up some elaborate displays. It was a definite highlight of our trip a couple of years ago!

Do you need it? - No.

Are they worth it? - I guess thats a matter of economics. I build it into the cost when I am planning each of our stays in Fort Wilderness.

I love driving around the campground with my DD7. I find it a great way to enjoy the outdoors and not be in the parks. Sometimes that can be a good thing. We like to drive around and look to see if we can find decorated campsites. Its fun to see people that deck out their sites!

I like not having to way for the buses to get around everywhere.

TTC - you cannot drive them out of Ft. Wilderness. you can park them at the bus terminal at the front of FW which is nice though.
