Exclamation One Man's Dream re-opens with new displays

One Man's Dream re-opened on November 4th with several new displays and a teaser for a new section opening next month.

The new WED Workshop display includes the Audio Animatronic Lincoln from the 1964 World's Fair. The display also includes
facade models of "it's a small world" as it was being redesigned from an exhibit at the Pepsi pavilion into a permanent attraction at the Disneyland park.

A new Epcot display features the robot butler animatronic from Horizons, a Figment Audio Animatronic from Journey into Imagination, a Dream Catcher model from Journey into Imagination, and two Audio Animatronics from the Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit number from Kitchen Kabaret.

    A
display has also been added for the Fantasyland expansion project at the Magic Kingdom featuring concept artwork for the Be Our Guest restaurant and the Ariel's Undersea Adventure attraction.

One of the walls features the writing, "The Legacy Continues | Fall 2010". Disney has announced that this will be a new section opening in December 2010.

dlpMikki's pictures from re-opening day can be found here.

Below is the first official description of the updated attraction and the announcement of the forthcoming "Legacy Continues" section.

Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream Reopens With New Magic, Fond Memories at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

by Thomas Smith | Social Media Director, Disney Parks
    The Official Disney Parks Blog
    November 5th, 2010

... We’ve reopened our one-of-a-kind showcase of the history of Walt Disney and The Walt Disney Company – Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream. The gallery at Disney’s Hollywood Studios retains its original focus, but has a new look and feel. The corridors feature an elegant color palette that brings new focus to beloved favorites, and helps to highlight some new additions.

A favorite of the project team Imagineers is the brand new look at a historic “WED Imagineering Workshop,” featuring sections of the original model for “it’s a small world”at Disneyland Park, and the actual Audio-Animatronics Abraham Lincoln figure that made its debut in the 1964/1965 New York World’s Fair. Regular guests will spot historic costumes, props and models that are new to the show, along with a glimpse of exciting new projects and a sneak peek into future adventures.

A new area entitled “The Legacy Continues” will focus on The Walt Disney Company highlights from the 1970s through today, and will debut next month. The heartwarming film tribute One Man’s Dream, hosted by Julie Andrews, remains as our finale.

I visited this on Friday (tried Thursday lunchtime but they were still working on it) and it has been really well done. Some of the new displays are great - couldn't believe it when I saw the Lincoln! Many old favourites are still there and overall this is a wonderful place to spend some time.

Disney has a way of messing up a good thing. Take JII for example. I am so glad to hear they have improved this. I can't wait to see it. I may be a Disney geek now, since this is what I am looking forward to seeing the most on my upcoming trip.

I cant wait to see this as well. I have not visited it in the past, but this post has given me a better understanding of what this attraction has to offer. How many films are shown during the tour?

Sounds exciting! Also in the "can't wait to see it" column.

Mikki, love the pics, but I have to admit I was a bit jarred at seeing Lincoln a little, ummmmm, exposed??

Does it just make me a total geek that I was saddened when One Man's Dream was closed when I was at the Studios in September?

For some reason, its one of my absolute favorite attractions. Something about that attraction just makes it all worth it to me.

If you're one, I'm one. I was bummed it was closed in Oct when I went. But now I have something to look forward to. I will be there in 3 weeks and am hoping the new section will be finished and open while I am there.
