Walt Disney Pictures has confirmed that the studio has cast "Toy Story" franchise voice stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in the big screen adaptation of Disney's theme park ride Jungle Cruise. The studio released the following statement:

The Walt Disney Studios is excited to be in development with Mandeville Films and writer Roger S.H. Schulman on a feature film based on the Jungle Cruise, one of the most iconic attractions in Disney theme park history. The film will pair up Tim Allen and Tom Hanks in their first live-action project, after their previous collaborations in the Toy Story trilogy.‬
Mandeville's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce.

The popular ride has visitors traveling the rivers of the jungle guided by a riverboat skipper and encountering wild animals as they cruise.

Interesting casting. No doubt there will be some TS references/jokes.

I'm going to have a difficult time watching them together and NOT think of Buzz and Woody.

I'm not a Tom Hanks fan in general, but I'll be interested in seeing this.

So theoretically, there's still time for my Big Thunder Mountain Railroad script to be picked up. Otherwise, I'll be stuck with nothing but Stroller Parking: The Musical.

I'll definitely end up seeing this as soon as it comes out.

My father-in-law is a bigwig for a theatre group in the midwest so he gets to go to Vegas every year for their conventions. A few years ago Hanks and Allen appeared on stage to talk together-- no script or anything-- he said they were awesome. They are just two tremendously talented individuals who apparently are also pretty nice gentlemen in real life. This movie has great potential.

Of course, the down side is this could forever change how I look at the ride.

    Sounds great!!!

In the same article (on another site), they talk about Jon Favreau taking on a movie called "Kingdom" which follows a family that stays at Disney after dark and finds that the rides and characters come to life.

I am hoping they didn't change Kingdom Keepers from teenagers to a family..... I love that book series!

wow...a movie based upon a ride already in existence...that could go two ways.

POTC with Johnny Depp = masterpiece

Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy = misery

Jungle Cruise with Hanks and Allen = ?

I hope its good, because I know DW and DD will want to see it.

Has potential to be a great movie! But so did Eddie Murphy/HM. Hope this follows on the success of Toy Story series!

I WILL go see it for sure!

So let me get this straight a ride created in 1955 based on the movie the African Queen is now getting a movie based on ride And it will star Buzz & Woody from Toy Story? I guess the only thing we can be sure of by the casting is it will most likely be a comedy and a buddy movie.

Hmmmm... Maybe can do a little CGI magic and put Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn in the boat with them.......

I hope it's a buddy movie and not a remake. Which one would get the Hepburn part?

I can just see the trailer with the tagline -
    To The Waterfall...and Beyond!

BTW - Stroller Parking: The Musical - too funny

I just keep thinking about the movie Jungle to Jungle with Tim Allen. That was pretty funny. Be interesting to see what they do with this one.

I was listening to Dennis Miller on his 4th anniversary and he to Tom Hanks. Tom talked about this movie and said that he took the deal to work with Tim again and because he liked the writers. I am excited!
