Default Let's All Sing To Tropical Serenade

Word on the street is Tropical Serenade will be making its return to Enchanted Tiki Room rather than Under New Management reopening. Word is Disney did not order any new Iago AA's and decided to correct the UNM mistake. Nothing is confirmed, so please, take this with a healthy dose of salt. But, if this is true, all I can say is
    UNM was terrible.
Let's stop defending mediocrity out of Disney and hold Disney to the higher standard they set up themselves.

If true, this is fantastic. The old show was a nice, relaxing place to beat the heat and rest the feet. The new show is pretty much the same, except I'm too busy cringing at the "hip" lyrics to really enjoy it. Fingers crossed that this will happen.
Believe in the future, the world is getting better, there is still plenty of opportunity.

I've grown to like the new version more than when it debuted. Still, if I had my druthers, I'd rather have the original version!

Never saw the original but I have heard it, and the music is much better than the new one, so hopefully this happens.

Honestly, if this is true I'll be very happy for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, it will add a "new" attraction to our list of Magic Kingdom must-do's.

But perhaps even more significant, it will signal an interesting change of direction for Disney. This would essentially be admitting to a mistake and correcting it (albeit about 10 years too late, but still), something I never really saw Disney being willing to do.

Now re-imagine the queue to include a Dole Whip stand (like DLP) and I'll be happy.

I poked around a bit on this last night and there doesn't really seem to be a whole lot substantive on it.

Thus far it seems like some folks are making a leap based on the lengthy extension of the rehab timeline.

While I would love to the original return this does seem to be based completely on speculation since the rehab time was extended. Lots of things could be the reason for the extended rehab.

Actually, not accurate. The information came from someone on another site who got the information from someone who works the Liberty Square/Adventureland area, and no, not a frontline CM. He said, based on what he was told, was this is happening. But, since nothing is ever concrete, I refused to say it was 100% happening, that is why I said, take it with a healthy dose of salt. I really can't attest to this guy's connections or reliability. However, this was not posted by some who is claiming this is happening based on the length of the refurb.

With that said, everything is a rumor until it's not.

More bad news for Gilbert Gottfried. He just got fired as the Aflac duck for insensitive remarks about the Japanese earthquake.

Granted, I've never seen the original. But my entire family LOVES the Tiki Room as it is with Iago and Zazu. It is fun and entertaining. I was so upset it wasn't open the other week because of the fire. That being said, I'm not married to it and have always been a fan of change, so it could be interesting if they revert back to the original or switch it up a bit.

Wonder how much Disney would sell the fake-charred Iago animatronic for. What a collectable that would be. Also would be somewhat of a rescue mission from all of you who want to make it nothing but a bad memory . Sheesh

I looked a little deeper into the basis and the main focus has been that Disney hasn't ordered a new Iago AA. But then again we really don't to what extent it was actually damaged so maybe they were able to simply repair it instead of replacing it.

Just briefly spoke with a friend from college who is a CM at MK, said his position is Main Street Ops? I don't know. But I asked him about this whole thing and he said he couldn't be too up front about it but he said the Tiki Room would be "A bit different, with the same idea though." So, take that as you may.

Probably this, but, people are saying at least 1 Iago was destroyed beyond repair... Guess we won't know until June....

I think the DCA refurbishment is, perhaps, the most glaringly obvious example that Disney IS willing to admit to a mistake and fix it. Although, the timeline of 10 years seems to be par for the course for this type of thing.

I hope they bring back the Original Tiki Room. Some original attractions don't need to be "plussed". Tiki Room is one of them.
