See, I forgot about the Epcot wand already. I tried to block that from my memory...

I hope they bring back the Original Tiki Room. Some original attractions don't need to be "plussed". Tiki Room is one of them.
Maybe someone can correct me on this, but, I think 10 years is the timeline so they can claim operational losses for tax purposes when the "mistake" is removed... I could be wrong about that though...

TRICIA JONES: I heard that you were going to propose to Brandi Svenning at some theme park. When are men going to learn that women want ROMANCE, not Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...
BRODIE: Hey, now, be fair. EVERYONE wants Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

I expect that I am in the minority on these boards, but if WDW does change the Tiki Room, I hope they create a whole new show and not go back in time to the retired Tropical Serenade.
If you want to see the original show, you can go to Disneyland and see the show there. I don't think you will see large crowds fighting for a spot.
Personally, I actually like the added humor of the "Under New Management" version of the Tiki Room and found the original version overall slow and lacking. Heck, the Magic Kingdom already has the Hall of Presidents if you need a place to sit down in the a/c for a while.
I know many people love the classics. And I have visited Disneyland to see some of them (including Mr. Toad's Wild Ride) but I would love to see more new and different things at WDW that aren't already in California. Thus, I would have an excuse to visit both places.
That said, I was happy to see the Epcot wand come down and I would be happy to see the Sorcerer's hat disappear from the Hollywood Studios park. I am also happy to see California Adventure getting more and better attractions and theme so as to improve that originally limited park.

Just found this on another site:
Lastly, and music to your ears, we are certain, we have been sitting on reports that when it re-opens, the Enchanted Tiki Room will no longer be under new management and will instead be returned to its original glory. Perhaps even more gratifying to many, sources have told us that Iago will find himself relocated to an Audio Animatronics graveyard located at Disneys Animal Kingdom where he will become fodder for Imagineers looking to hone their skills. The attraction currently has no known re-opening date, although its assumed to be July 1, 2011 at this time as the official site has it listed as closed through June 30.

I've heard this same rumor on other sites, so I'm cautiously optimistic that some sort of change is coming to the Tiki Room.

I'm excited, but I'm also bummed that it's not going to be open until July. I would have loved to have seen it on our May trip!

UPDATE: The opening of Tiki has been pushed back again. August 16, 2011 is the new opening date. Soon, we shall be singing like the birdies once sang.
Let's stop defending mediocrity out of Disney and hold Disney to the higher standard they set up themselves.

I saw this on the Disney website a short time ago when I was checking my reservations, updates to park hours, etcetera & thought it was an error on their part. WOW!

Apparently it is not a mistake. Unless, they push it back even further. So far, all I am reading on this, I like.

I like Stitch, but I have had enough of him in the parks... Let's just hope this longer than expected refurb brings something worthwhile...

The way this is going Fantasyland, the yeti being fixed, Beastly Kingdom, Pixar Place second phase, Tomorrowland re-do, Matterhorn in Epcot, the fifth theme park, and the castle being themed into a birthday cake again will all happen before the Tiki Room re-opens...
