    Default Beast's Castle Forming

Two spire towers and a bridge have been built on the Beast's Castle facade! Rockwork behind Maurice's cottage is taking shape too. The mesh the rockwork is created on has been installed, and continues to expand. The rockwork will hide the meet and greet showbuildings while Beast's Castle will house the Be Our Guest Restaurant.

Mods, I opened a new thread because I failed to find a Fantasyland upate thread. I have a suggestion. Maybe a mod can create a Fantasyland update thread and sticky it? That way, when there are updates, we have an official thread to report it on? Just a suggestion.
Let's stop defending mediocrity out of Disney and hold Disney to the higher standard they set up themselves.

And it looks really cool, from the photos I saw on Tumblr. Really nice. It'll seem weird to have two castles.

I wonder if Cinderella will see this as a threat to her kingdom. I mean, you don't just build a castle down the street from one princess and don't expect a battle between kingdoms. Just sayin'.

Man, the forced perspective is just weird at this second with the steel below the castle...

This really did somewhat go up overnight. I was there last week and didn't see anything resembling what's there now. Very cool!

Does anyone remember exactly when this is supposed to be finished? I'm going to try to go to Disney again in Jan 2012 for my birthday again and this would be the best birthday present EVER if it was finished by then. I know most of Fantasyland is not due to be completely until 2013, but I thought Beast's castle and such was supposed to be finished in early 2012...

Ah, well. I suppose a girl can dream.

According to the Disney Parks blog from yesterday, "The expanded Fantasyland is scheduled to open in phases, beginning in late 2012."

I wouldn't expect to see anything open in June, unless they finish dramatically ahead of schedule. Late 2012 probably means Q4.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info, Ian! Well, I suppose that means I'll just have to plan another trip to Disney in Jan 2013 for my 25th birthday...

I can't believe how far Beast's Castle has already come along! It amazes me, really. I have a hard time believing that it will really take them that long to finish (End of 2012) at the rate they are going, but I know they will take the time to make sure every detail is perfect, so it makes sense in a way.

That's why I was thinking it might be done earlier. If it's not scheduled to open for another 18 months or so, it's kind of amazing how far along they've come! I thought, perhaps, there might be at least this section done by the end of the year, but ah, well...

Wow! I NEVER would have thought it was that small. They did a GREAT job of using forced perspective!
