Default Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster Preview

D23 Expo attendees got even more detail around the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train where guests will take a journey through the diamond mine of the Seven Dwarfs in a new ride system designed by Walt Disney Imagineering. The ride system allows each mine car to swing back and forth individually as the train twists and turns along the track.

Looks like loads of fun and kind of a tie between Splash Mountain (inside) and BTMRR (outside).

Ride concept is interesting...just hope the actual ride itself has a bit more "up and down" to it than the clip.

In Houston we used to have Astroworld and there was a ride there called Alpine Sleigh Ride. The ride would start off winding through an alpine type setting, spruce trees, cedar trees, rolling streams and Swiss type alpine sounds coming from the bushes. Then you would climb up the mountain that looked similar to the Matterhorn in DL and the ride was pretty tame until the last drop plummeted into darkness and COLD air and then the ride slowed into a brightly lit mine where animatronic dwarfs were mining gems that sparkled in the light and cheery work music was being played. I loved this ride and hope that the new Snow White ride is similar, but sounds to me like an Imagineer did a little leveraging on this NEW idea....I'm just saying...

The original attraction poster for the Alpine Sleigh Ride at Astroworld (and possibly some of the concept artwork) was created by Harper Goff who was an Imagineer and Art Director for Disney.

Also, the ride system (the ArrowGlide) was built by Arrow Dynamics who built many of the original ride systems for Disneyland. There of course always were the comparisons to the Matterhorn.

Also I believe that Astroworld would refer to the mining characters generically as gnomes, and later with an official title "Alpies" and did everything to avoid them being called dwarves (presumably their attempt to avoid comparisons to Disney and Snow White)

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is going to be part of the Fantasyland Expansion at WDW. It will be replacing, in theme if not location, Snow White's Scary Adventure.

Is this going to be a kiddie type ride like Goofy's Barnstormer or is it more like BTMRR?

Being that it is replacing Snow White's Scary Adventure and is in Fantasyland, I would think it's a milder coaster meant for children and their adults to enjoy together. I can't see it being a big speed thing with large drops. Looks like it could be a slightly milder version of BTM with the added car swing thrown in to enhance it. I like the way it slows down so you can take in the scenery..
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

Oh dear, with the swinging cars I can see this being another ride I have to avoid in my middle years and beyond.
