I am interested in tenting at Fort Wilderness. I was wondering if there are any tent sites next to the water? Ideally, where you can see the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night. Thanks!
Good question. I'm guessing that the answer is no since tent camping must be done on an approved site, and beach camping is not permitted. Hopefully someone will come along with a better answer for where to tent camp with a good view.

There are no campsites along the beach area. Some sites (notably loops 100-300) are near to the beach area and you can walk from there but none of those sites, to my knowledge is close enough to have a Magic Kingdom view.

No, there are none close enough for what you are asking. Trust me it is for the best. Between the mosquitos, waterbugs, snakes and crocs, you don't want to be THAT close to the water (yes you can in fact find all of them in there). You are better off taking a short walk to watch them, then caually stoll back to your camp site.

As others have said, there are no sites that close to the water. And it's no exaggeration about the alligators...we saw one swimming near the boat dock at the Wilderness Lodge, so trust me, they are there. Definitely make sure you close up your tent as tight as you can...you don't want to come back to any surprise guests.

Thank you all for the responses. A very good point made about alligators. On my last trip tenting (up in Bar Harbor, Maine), we were worried about the bears and moose. I figured they don't have those in Florida , but I did not think about the alligator factor. Thanks for the input!
Just to set the record straight. The only "crocs" in Central FL are in zoos and AK. We have ordinary gators, you have to go to the Keys to see crocs. They like salt water better.
