At $300 -$400/night for a family suite, I don't see us EVER giving this resort a try... even at a discount of 25% (which is about all the value resorts ever get) it is WAY more than I'm willing to pay, and that's for resorts like AKL and the BW.

Granted, the difference is in the living room/kitchen area, but even then -- I can rent DVC points at $10/pt during the F&W Fest and still pay WAY less than what they're asking for these rooms, and at a value resort, no less. Yikes!!

whoa...checked on prices for a stay next year and it came back at $395 a night (with no AAA discount since its classified as a suite)...yikes...I take back my comment about it being on the lower end of the price range. chances are the only way we'll stay there would be in a regular value room for a two person stay.

    Default Color of Sky?

In this economy what were the Disney people thinking? I don't see them filling $400 a night suites at a value. I would like to know what color the sky is in their world? It can't be blue maybe green $.

I was looking at some of the pictures Intercot tweeted recently of the construction at AoA. Looks as though they're enclosing the exterior hallways that are common at the Value resorts. So they will be interior corridors.
Is that worth paying $50 more a night? Nope.
Is all the cute theming worth that much more a night? Nope.
I think once they have a whole lot of empty rooms and realize the hype isn't bringing in customers (or "Heads in Beds" as Ian might say on the podcast!) they'll end up reducing the price.
In the meantime, we'll still just get a cabin at Ft. Wilderness if we want to stretch out in more space. The cabins seem bigger anyway, with a full kitchen (not a kitchenette), a whole deck to sit on outside, and living room. And it's cheaper! That's a better "Value", if you ask me!

I have been studying all of the available pictures of AoA from Disney and I don't think they have enclosed hallways. What they have is a building design with exterior hallways on only one side of the building. The suites run the full depth of the building, unlike the regular Value buildings which have rooms facing both directions and a common wall down the center of the building dividing the two halves.

I can't find the Intercot pictures on Twitter but are basing my conclusion solely based on official Disney Blog pictures. Of course I could also be dead wrong.

Really? The suites at AoA run the full depth of the building? That's different than the ones at ASMusic, where it's essentially two regular rooms joined together side-by-side.
Well maybe that's what I'm seeing. But still, not worth it in my opinion!

These are the pics Gary took last week. I don't see where it appears there will be interior hallways.

I believe the plan is to have the buildings with suites have interior hallways, whereas, the buildings housing standard single rooms will have exterior hallways, like all the other Values....

One of these days, I WILL post the pics I took over the wall at the end of the Generation Gap Bridge back in September.....

Mel: Gary had 4 pictures of AoA -- the one I'm referring to is the first one he posted. Here's the link:

I think the last two links from PopPhan give us our answer, it appears Buttercup is right!

Those last two pics, IMHO, clearly show an interior hallway running down the center of the building separating the two halves, thus giving the suite buildings interior corridors that spill out onto the stairs at the end of each building.

so with interior hallways does that make these rooms a hybrid category something along the lines of "deluxe value"?

Hovering around $300 per night certainly makes AoA look deluxe on paper!

Do yall think they will share busses with Pop Century? We changed resorts mostly because Pop busses were insanely crowded on their own...I really want to stay in the Lion King area but don't know if it'll be worth it if we have to worry about renting a car.

From what has been said in the past, AoA will have its own bus route. It will NOT share with Pop.

Now, what actually happens remains to be seen.....

Just like when POP first opened, a bunch of pin code postcards will be sent out w/ great intro deals to get people to stay at AoA.

With our luck, we probably won't get a postcard.

I remember when POP first opened and we got the pin code deal for $59 a night.

I can wish upon all the stars I want to for a pin code with similar deal can't I?

That would be the only way that we would stay in a value (especially since we are DVC owners).
