I voted for the Sci-Fi. Their burgers are very good, and the kids will love the atmosphere.

I am a HUGE fan of the 50's primetime...but, I love comfort food. The atmosphere is fun, servers entertaining, and the TV's playing are guaranteed to keep your kids entertained. My DD loves going there and has always tried to "play" with the servers.

I have tried Mama Melrose's multiple times, and it is never very impressive. Kind of like going to Macaroni Grill back home.

I tried Sci-fi once and wasn't really impressed. The food didn't excite me, and the atmosphere wasn't enough to make me want to go back.

I recommend the 50's Primetime Cafe!

Been to all three and here are my thoughts:

Sci Fy Dine In - Great room / fun to watch the short movie clips. The food was nothing to write home about. Seems like CS food at TS prices. Difficult to talk to people in your party with "car" seating arrangement. I would suggesting going once for the experience, then you can decide whether a return trip is needed (not for us).

50's Prime Time Cafe - Loved the freid chicken and desserts. If you are the Dining Plan you can order a milkshake as your beverage. We have eaten far too much everytime so be warned. The waitress interaction has been hit or miss. My experience has been if you joke around with the waitress she will give you a hard time (all in fun or course), if you don't she will be just a standard waitress.

Mama Melrose - I have been here 3 or 4 times. When it has been good, I have really enjoyed my meal. BUT on one ocassion the meal and service was just below par. Not terrible just not good (if you know what I mean). Going back to Mama Melrose later this month.

Been to Sci Fi twice and Primetime once. Both are good, but I preferred the food and theming of Sci Fi more. I'm due to try Mama Melrose on our next trip.

    Default Sci-Fi- YUCK!

We have eaten at Sci-Fi twice (about 5 years apart) and didn't like it either time. It is SO dark in there and it hard to talk to each other. I honestly can't remember much about the food. I know I couldn't see what I was eating though b/c it was SO dark.

We LOVE 50's!!! Fun atmosphere, for sure!

Never been to Mama Melrose's so I can't comment.

another vote for Sci - fi
the kids in the front you and DW as the backseat drivers. The kids will love the atmosphere. IMO go for the experience
It's not fine dining it's truly all about theming

50's prime time - Not sure how your boys might feel about someone telling them what to do - my girls hated it even though it was all in good fun plus you might not even get a table with a TV that can fit your party (not fun either)

I actually don't mind the food at Mama Melrose's, especially for a nondescript theme-park restaurant, but I still voted for 50's Prime Time. When it comes to dining at Hollywood Studios, food is rarely a focus. Since you're traveling with kids, you'll be best off soaking up the atmosphere of a place like Prime Time or Sci-Fi and head elsewhere for a great meal at some other point during the trip.

I have always preferred Prime Time to Sci-Fi. I like the theme at Sci-Fi, but I don't like eating in such a dark rook, and the seating arrangement makes it difficult to have a conversation with your dining partners.

It truly is a tossup in my family between the 50s and SciFi. My daughter and I will be doing both on our trip in June.

Another vote for Sci Fi! My DS's have always loved it & it was on our must do list every trip! Definitely more for the atmosphere, where else can you eat at a drive in anymore? And the servers on skates, what a hoot! Every trip we still have to get the light up ice cubes! They're also festive & fun to use when you get back home! But I have to add that we've always enjoyed our meal, never a bad experience!

My Ds8 loved 50's Prime Time. Our waiter was very funny and wasn't too harsh- even played around with Gram(my mom). The food was very very good! Good luck.

Sci fi - is a great experience, BUT you need a car- if you get the back table, its not a great meal.

We had 3 meals in tha cars and they were all A+ , we had a meal on the back table and it was very poor ( C-)

The experience is as important as the actual food. The food is pretty good, but its the experience and service that make it worth the $$ or meal points.

I went with 50's Prime Time. Sci-Fi and 50's are both fun for young and not so young, but we like the food at 50's much better.

    My preference...
50's Prime TIme has better food (the atmosphere use to be good but they CMs don't get into like they used to)

Sci-fi Drive in has the best atmosphere, especially as stated in prior posts if you are luck enough to get a car and even more so if you are lucky enough to have the front seat.

TO date I have never had either a good atmosphere or food experience at Momma Melroses, so I will refrain from commenting on that.
