Default 1st trip for 4 -Reporting from the road! Live-as-we-go

As I sit bored in the car, I thought it would be fun to do a play by play report. Kind of the road warrior family report as it happens.

I am still doing my formal trip report but, thought it would be cool to report thing along the w3ay for those of you that are traveling soon or are just plain bored like I am. You can only see so many trees and trucks.

First comments... I apologize for any spelling errors as I am doing this from my phone.

Construction.. OH/KY border - we hit traffic around exit 1c right before the Ky state line. Don't know if it was because of construction or the football game downtown...saw lots of tailgaters.

Hit standstill traffic about 1.5 miles after the kentucky welcome center. Construction brought 3 lanes down to 2 right lanes. Took us 20 minutes to got 4 miles.

    After that, smooth sailing....

Oh, and when we left home, it wa 44 degrees and raining. Rain stopped aroung Mi/OH border. Sun started around mid OH.

Well, after a dip in the pool, dinner w my SIL, kids crash around 11. I didn't sleep until 12:30 or so. Fitfull sleep, just couldn't get comfy.

We are through ATL now at mile marker 224.

If you r staying overnight in atlanta, we suggest kennesaw homewood suites or hilton gardenview. Easy on, easy off on i75 and EVERYTHING is there... there are 3 starbucks within 1 mile and a Target in the parking lot

475 bypass at Macon is a timesaver. We are almost back on to 75. There is a rest area on the bypass.

Just downloaded mydat trucker services. HAS AWESOME rest area search/info... Love it and I'm not a trucker...

So enjoying your on-the-road reports. Especially knowing we will soon be on those same roads. Keep up the good work. You'll be there before you know it.

OMGosh... rest area at mile marker 118 is a BEE SWARM. Warning... agressive bees are swarming the wastebaskets and any car/person close to it. Park on the backside of tnis rest area (shade side). Much less swarming there. This bathrrom was also gross... if we didn't have that starbucks......

If you r allergic to bees, please stop else where. There were a few bees in the bathroom.

We're at mm 64 now. Passed 5 cops clocking southbound traffic.... speeders beware... good thing my DH is a grandpa driver

Kennasaw is a great area. Stayed there a few months back. Good luck on the rest of your road adventure. Are you stopping at Florida Welcome Center for your complimentary orange juice?

This is a fun way to do a trip report. I hope to someday do a road trip to WDW someday. How long will it take to get to WDW?

We just left the FL welcome center. Got there about 11:28 and took 30 minutes of pictures, free oj and grapefruit juice, more pictures and a wardrobe change. Put our zebra gymboree tank and shorts in anticipation for arrival pics in Kidani. About 2.5. Hours left. You can cut the excitement w a knife in the car.

We'll blast the kids disney dance party music whenwe're in the last hour. Once we get on property (kids are already looking for the purple mickey ear signs), we open all the windows, turn down the music and emerse ourselves in the sounds of buses and kids pointing to everything, sign we pass.

    So close, yet so far...

A moment of silence for the passing of the Ocala Disney welcome center.... 22 miles to the turnpike!

For some reason, traffic has thinned out. Very few cars on the road. I'm sure that will change on the turnpike

Its 6:20 and I am current sitting at Mara waiting for my order to come up. DH and the girls are at the kidani pool and I volunteered to get food. We decided to eat dinner by the pool and then take the bus to dtd to visit the babycakes bakery for Isabel since she is allergic to eggs and that bakery is allergen friendly. She's so excited to be able to set foot in a bakery, much less pick anything she wants.

We pulled up about 3:10 and there was NO ONE on the turnpike. In fact, we stopped on the shoulder, I took a picture of the welcome sign while standing in the middle of the 3 lane highway!

No car ever passed us...IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY! Oh, what a glorious vacation beginning

Oh, and I took the MK bus from kidani to Jambo house. Any park bus will stop at jambo after kidani.. DTD bus DOES NOT STOP AT JAMBO AFTER. Now, how to get back.... I'll probably walk. Not that far... I did the walk last year..like 10 min. Oops food is up! Oh and Mara chef prepared Isabel's food in allergen kitchen - No egg chicken nuggets!!!! No one accomodates like Disney
