Best Beach next to Disney for Shelling

We would like to spend a couple of days before Disney next summer to take the girls to a beach and go shelling. What is the best beach for this?

Would also like a hotel on the beach.

We have lived on both the east and west coasts of FL and for shelling I would recommend one of the west (Gulf) coast beaches. Our favorite is Siesta, near Sarasota.

My husband's grandparents have a house near the Gulf Coast (near Sarasota). They have lots of beautiful shells!

Sanibel will be the best for shells but it takes a better part of three hours to get there.
