    Question "Good Neighbor" definition

This may be a very stupid question, but I'm having a hard time finding (or at least understanding) the answer on my own. What exactly does the "good neighbor" hotel do for you as opposed to any other hotel? I know most of them are within walking distance of DLR and/or can be packaged with a DLR vacation, but is that it?

I don't know what kind of criteria they must meet, if any, to be classified as a Good Neighbor Hotel. I don't think it makes them any better or worse than other hotels in the area.

Mostly I believe it is the fact that you may plan your vacation through Walt Disney Travel even if you don't intend to choose one of the three Resort hotels.

When you book your Disneyland Resort vacation online with the Walt Disney Travel Company, you receive little extras such as pins, lanyards, luggage tags, and the opportunity to participate in the Extra Magic Hour, to attend Toontown Morning Madness, to have preferred seating at some shows/attractions.

The good neighbor hotels have bus service although for a small fare.

For what it's worth, you an book any neighborhood hotel on your own, not in the package and it's cheaper. You won't the the bells and whistles (charachter wake up call, early entrance, etc.....) but it is cheaper

I don't think "Good Neighbor" has anything to do with quality. I went with a group that insisted on staying at the Jolly Roger () and it was awful. The sheets, blankets and towels were stained. The room smelled of mold and the air conditions smelled so bad, like the filter hadn't been cleaned in years. It was disgusting and I'll never stay there again. If Disney knew how bad their rooms were, I doubt that they would promote them as a "Good Neighbor".

I stayed there over 15 years ago and it sounds like it hasn't changed a bit. I would never recommend it. Too bad - Decent location. It always has stumped me how Disneyland Resort can classify this as a "Good Neighbor". Surely they can't be recommending this place!
