Please send pixie dust for William

I have a favor to ask; can you spare some prayers and pixie dust for my 9 year old nephew William. He has Diamond Blackfan Anemia. It's a life threatening for of anemia and he's transfusion dependent. On top of that he's been sick for the past two weeks and the doctors can't figure out what's going on. He keeps running fevers, falls asleep at the drop of a hat and is extremely difficult to wake up and has intestinal/bowel issues going on. He's back at the hospital for the 5th or 6th time in the past two weeks. They've admitted him to run some tests, given him an IV to rehydrate him and who knows what else. He's already lost 3 pounds this week and he's only about 50 pounds soaking wet as it is.

He was actually saying he was hungry in the ER but they wouldn't let him have any food in case he's got to have an ultra sound. I told my sister to tell them to do the ultrasound NOW, before he even gets into a room so that the poor kid can eat something. If he's saying he's hungry, then he's hungry. He usually doesn't eat enough to keep a bird alive.

So any pixie dust and prayers that you can spare would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, and his part time daddy is oh so helpful-NOT! My 23 and 18 year old nephews have been stepping in to help watch William's 5 year old brother Justin! I am so glad my sister is divorced from that XXXX!

They've ruled out Epstein Barr and all the Hepatitis viruses. He's got to go on a no dairy or sugar diet for a while to see if that has something to do with it. That's going to be so hard right before Halloween. And the foods on the list are a lot of things he either doesn't like or can't eat because he has to stay away from anything high in iron. He has to chelate because of his DBA. They took him off one of the forms he's been doing thinking that might be messing him up too. So we'll see what happens with that. He has to do the other one 7 nights a week now though instead of having 2 nights off.
The doctor's are thinking it might be more than one issue that's plaguing him so they are trying to eliminate one thing at a time. So he's still in the hospital.
The good thing is that he can still have milk shakes but with lactaid to help him digest it. He doesn't eat enough to keep a bird alive.
I'm really hoping they can figure this out so that he can come home.

They finally figured it out and he got to come home on Tuesday, right in time for trick or treating. He did go out but was waking really slow because he was still wiped out.
It was a couple of different issues, both which are treatable. We had to stop one of his chelation meds and he had to go on the other 7 days a week, instead of just 5, to make up for the other one being stopped.
And he's got his appetite back for the most part so we have to work on fattening him up because he lost so much weight. He still looks really pale though so I'm afraid he's going to need another transfusion before too long.

So please let me take the time to remind everyone: GIVE BLOOD, it CAN and does save lives. It doesn't take long; it really doesn't hurt and they are really at a critical low right now. Please donate.

Thanks everyone. He's continuing to improve and is pretty much back to normal. His kidney functions are looking good so they are backing off his meds a little to see if he's improving on his own or if it's the meds. Hopefully he can get off some of the stuff he's taking as it upsets his tummy sometimes.
