    Default Cruise questions

    Hi everyone,
I haven't been on here in a very long time, and I apologize in advance if this has been addressed already.
I'm thinking to use points/cash for a cruise this summer. I'm wondering if DVC customer service would act as a travel agent and book the plane tix etc. I've always booked my own or just drive to WDW.
We are looking at the cruise to Alaska from Vancouver.
    Thanks

Hi Alligirl, i cant help on the dvc travel agent question but the cruise to Alaska sounds like a plan, there are a number of hotspots and recommended alaskan ports to look out for.

    Default DVC and Cruise

I've only done DVC/Cash for a cruise in 2009. The points we have (after we booked time at resort prior to boarding ship) were only enough to cover ONE person. IMHO, its not worth using points for cruising. They require you to pay the entire balance when you book with DVC points mixed with cash. Now I'm not *sure* if that's the case with airfare and transportation as well as you can add them on separately later.

There are separate DVC Cruise specialists.

But knowing I have to plop all that money down with the points, I use Magical Journeys instead.

Using points on a cruise isn't a good deal at all. It's better to rent the points out to someeone else and use the cash to book a "normal" cruise. Better by a longshot...

I'm saying you may be able to cover the cruise, airfare and spending money with the cash value of the points necessary to get just the cabin covered on the boat.
