Just the theatrical release though, it will still be released on Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack this Fall.

I just don't get the whole 3D thing... Saw Avatar in 2D, then 3D, meh... Avengers in both, meh... Hobbit only in 2D... 3D doesn't matter to me, certainly not worth a price premium to see it in the theaters, and TLM I'llme getting for the HD upgrade only, not going to bother with the 3D aspect.

I suspect Disney made a good call on canceling a theatrical release if they did. I bet distribution, marketing, etc will eat up much of what that would pull in.

With all the reboots, sequels, prequels, and remakes, and updates, there's not much new coming out of Hollywood. I think the public is catching on...

This is the conclusion I have come up with. I will only see a movie in 3D if it comes out like that right from the beginning. IMO, if the movie wasn't made for 3D, then watching it in
3D really isn't that great. A great example is Monsters Inc. I took my niece a few months ago and spent a small fortune for nothing. The effects just weren't there. I love a good 3D, but I am going to be more picking in the future. Jurassic Park is tempting but I'm not going to fall for it.

Hey all! Just because a movie is made in 3D doesn't mean it is worth watching. "The Last Airbender" is a perfect example. Made for 3D and had a few come at you moments but not worth it. Plus it was a rather terrible movie all on its own. I like watching 3D movies not for the typical effects but for the background depth. In "Avatar" it felt like the trees and shrubbery was deep and far. "John Carter" was another good example of depth. I try to hit the early shows and pay less. Typically it costs about the same as a regular showing of a standard movie. Another thing to remember is that not all 3D is equal. And not all movie theaters are equal. Head for a newer or more modern movieplex and you can see the difference. If you really want to feel like you're in the move see it in IMAX.

Where do you go for this? Our local movie theater tacks on 3 or 4 dollars more per ticket no matter what time you go. Times that by 5 people you are paying $20 more. Our movie theater charges $11 for adults for a regular movie and about $15 for 3D. That's crazy....and Hollywood wonders why they make less money each year. Bad movies and unreasonable prices.....but that's another topic all together.
