    Default Smash - Season 2

I got to watch a sneak peek on my way back from California last week on the plane, but it was only the first hour. Need to rewatch and catch the second hour sometime today.

Please, please, please don't let Jennifer Hudson ruin this for me. I just can't even stand how she talks. Ugh.

Who watched, and what did you think? A lot of the players from last season are gone.

Thought it was good, I watched the first hour online awhile ago.

Loved the new music the 2 boys were writing.

I liked it! I was wondering where Ellis had gone, is he not in the cast anymore?

Jennifer does need to work on her diction when speaking but I really liked her in the role and her talent can't be denied. After Kelly Clarkson, she's easily my favorite to ever come out of American Idol. She's already a much better guest star than Uma Thurman!

Last season I never would have felt bad for Ivy, like EVER, but at the end of the second hour when she heard Derek say it was "nothing important" and the look on her face in the elevator I felt for her in that moment.

I'm glad the whole Julia and Frank storyline is over, I didn't like any of that part of the story last season and hope now the plot can get back to the development of the show and competitive spirit between Ivy & Karen that made me like this series in the first place.

After that premiere I'm on team Ivy. Karen really comes off as a brat. I think they rushed her development way too fast. I liked the Karen from the premiere a lot more, but I guess now she's gained more confidence and become hardened. And just vocally, I feel Jennifer Hudson and the actress who plays ivy (blanking on her name) are leagues ahead of McPhee.

As for Ellis I read that viewers hated him so much that he's out as a main character but he might pop up in a flashback or a minor role. Who knows.

If only she spoke like she sings.

I just finished watching, and I liked it. And I know there's really no reason I should, but I like the new guy. I don't care for Karen and Derek together (I love them as good friends/good partners in work), but romantically, no.

And Ivy made her bed. Not feeling sorry for her at all. Actually, I thought she wasn't looking so great so far this season. Her hair really bugs me.

I wondered about your reaction when I saw that she had been added to the cast this season.

I don't know why they are going in this direction at all. It's been ok for me so far but I don't like the changes they made since the finale last year. I read a lot of the leadership behind the scenes changed and they overhauled it. It hasn't been doing well ratings wise either, and I'm guilty of watching online or on demand later in the week as 10 p.m. time slots are hard for me

I want less of the new guys and more Megan Hilty solos!

Yep, seems the overhaul is having the opposite effect of what they wanted to do, losing it's audience instead of building. Too bad...it had potential.

Agreed. I've forgotten to watch it and caught up later. And I'm at the point where I'm thinking why bother catching up? I also dislike Jennifer Hudson, and that includes her singing. She shouts most of her lyrics, no thanks. I don't care if she shouts in tune. I just get so annoyed by her. Personally, I have nothing against her. I just don't want to have anything to do with her.

Ellis was written out, won't be back, from what I've heard. But who knows, if they get desperate. What they're doing isn't working. The same thing happened to Glee for me. I haven't seen that show in so long.

Me too Sherri. Haven't seen Glee since 2 seasons ago, I think. I didn't even watch the graduation episode. They'd already lost me.

Not looking to get into the Jennifer Hudson debate again. I like her, I don't think she is the problem as much as the plot is just all-over-the-place. Honestly I don't care at all about Katherine McPhee's character anymore but for some reason I'm still watching. I won't be heartbroken nor surprised if/when it's cancelled...

Yeah, agreed, J-Hud is not the reason I'm not watching. Somehow it's just not hitting the right notes. (that should have come with a bad pun alert, sorry).

Well, since my routine has been to fast forward through JHud's parts, and now her annoying mother, I missed half the show last night. Fail! Who are the stars of this show again?

This is what I'm saying. I like her voice and the character doesn't bother me BUT what is the main point of the show now? It is no longer about Karen trying to make it, because even though she still has not actually starred in a broadway show, she's now written as an "it" girl with lots of confidence. It also doesn't seem to be getting Bombshell to broadway... That's almost like an after thought. They are jumping around to so many different stories that they are losing character development. They definitely have not developed Hudson's character enough to constitute an entire show about her. And now Karen is falling for a talented but troubled junkie? Meh.

A JHud free episode, and for me, a clearer focus for the show as a whole. Bravo! I really liked this episode.

But really, have Sean Hayes guest star, and he doesn't even have a scene with Debra Messing? Boo.

Okay, now that's better. I will check it out again. I saw Sean Hayes with Kristen Chenoweth in Promises, Promises on Broadway and they were so good, especially Sean. Love him.

I agree that last night's episode was better, but it was still schizophrenic with all the plot lines. I know it's essentially a soap opera, and that's what soap operas are, but it just seems so disjointed. We're focused on Hit List, now it's back to Bombshell, back to Hit List, back to Bombshell, and oh by the way, Ivy is in an entirely different show that we have to check in with.

My favorite scenes are hands down the Bombshell ones. Anyone notice that the main problems with both Hit List and Bombshell are the BOOK? Hmmm just like the actual SHOW! The songs are great...the writing...not so much.

Looks like it might be the beginning of the end for Smash. Starting on April 6, the show will be moved to 9pm Saturday night. The entire season will air, but beyond that, I think the writing is on the wall for cancellation. Ratings are utterly abysmal.

I haven't watched in 2 weeks, and I tried to stay optimistic but I don't care anymore. They never should have tinkered with what worked!
