    Default Boy hurt on Peoplemover

Friday my family and I were at magic kingdom and were waking to get on people mover but it was closed with a lot of cm's blocking it and management coming out. We heard a boy screaming and after a few minutes a EMT arrived with a stretcher and as they were moving the boys arm he would scream loudly they escorted him away from the ride and to backstage. His arm looked pretty messed up.

I was just curious if anyone knew how he got hurt on the people mover. It was all so sad and surreal. People mover was then closed down.
Was anyone else there and know what happened more? I'm worried about this poor boy I saw the pain in his eyes and it broke my heart. I hope his injuries aren't too serious. Praying for the family

Yep! We stress this with all of our kids. I just cant stop thinking of this boy. He was in so much pain and I just wish I knew how he was now.

I can't imagine any way you get hurt on this one without doing something you shouldn't. No less tragic for the people involved, but the warning is pretty much boilerplate for all rides everywhere.

There are some tight clearances on that ride (it seems). Unfortunately, it only takes a second for something like this to happen. I see kids hanging their arms out the sides of ride vehicles all the time. Drives me nuts!

I wonder if this has anything to do with today's announcement of no child under ther age of 14 will be allowed in the parks without adults.

    Sad.

Is it possible that he just fell and broke his arm on the platform of the People mover? I would hate to think he hurt his arm badly during the ride sticking it out of the car and had to ride the whole way screaming until he got back to the platform.

this is what i was thinking, as an adult i think i would struggle to reach anything outside the cars with my arms, let alone a child's sized arms. (not that I've tried or anything )

Frankly it's way closer quarters on the train around MK. Sometimes the trees seem to come right out after you. In either case, hate to see anyone hurt at WDW and also hate that probably more than a few kids had to witness the whole mess.

Hope he is OK...but shocked that parents would let children go to the parks alone...regardless of their maturity level. Not sure how thy will be able to enforce this though, unless ticket prices change for 13 and under (rather than 10 and under) and then 14 and over, so the ticket would designate age....

Without any more facts, it is useless to speculate how this boy was hurt. A few years ago I fell down in my bathroom early one morning and broke my ankle badly (both bones; x-ray looked like I had been in a bad car wreck or something). There was nothing to stumble over, no wet floor, I was just clumsy and tripped over my own feet. Could have happened anywhere. There's nothing wrong with my bathroom floor, and just because somebody got hurt while on a theme park attraction doesn't automatically mean the ride is unsafe. Accidents happen. It's a risk just to get out of bed and go to the bathroom.

The two events are not related, to the best of my knowledge. I'm sure the boy was there with his parrents.

Who knows how he was injured? I'm am also inclined to think that he fell, especially with the moving sidewalk in the loading area.

I wasn't there and although any of us can speculate about what happened all day long, I wanted to offer some insight into what I have seen kids/teens do on Peoplemover.

Basically, I have seen them trying to "high five" people on vehicles moving in the opposite direction at various places on the track. I wonder if this was the case in this instance.

At any rate, I hope that the kid is doing better now...

Once when DD was much younger she tripped while stepping off a curb and broke a bone in her foot. Had to rush her to hospital and she had to wear a cast for a month. It happens, poor kid hope he feels better.

I always stress this to my DD as she likes to stick her hands out of the peoplemover. I'll have to show her this for the exact reason.

This is always something I've worried about on Space Mountain and even Thunder Mountain at times... at least raising your hands like many guests do on rollercoasters. Those beams look close enough to take my arms off (especially Space Mountain).
    We all have sparks, imaginations.
That's how our minds, create creations.
For they make, our wildest dreams come true.
Those magic sparks, in me and you. ºoº
