    Default Day trip to philly

Found out Steve Martin was having a concert at the Kimmel Center so have a ticket for tomorrow. Didn't know much about the group he is playing with but it is a bluegrass band ( which I love - went to college in Kentucky my freshman year and love those bluegrass concerts) and Paul Simon's wife s the singer, so that will be interesting also.

Since Wicked is also having a matinee I decided to go see it also.

Now the weather is going to be stormy and very hot. Not sure what I am going to do during the 3 hours between.

And I will have to take a taxi around 10 pm to get back to 30th street station. I don't mind taxi rides during the day but at night I feel uneasy about them, especially being by myself in the taxi.

    Wish me luck!

That sounds great! We are going to see Wicked next month. Very excited.

I would find a nice restaurant and have a leisurely meal. You could walk around the shops at Liberty Place. There is a nice hotel attached to the shopping area. I think it's a Westin. You could relax in the lobby and read a book or have a drink. Oh, and the big HD screen at the Comcast building is really cool.

Wicked starts at 2 and Steve Martin at 8. Y plan was shops and food around Rittenhouse square. But depends on rain and heat. I get in at 11 so am going to take septa to reading terminal.

Solved my problem - got a room at the doubletree on broad for the night. Now I don't have to worry how long the concert is.....and taking a taxi at night. Hotel is within a block of concert so will feel safe. Is strange to be next to my youngest dorm and her being home.

The Doubletree on Broad Street worked out great. I was able to go back to the room twice during downpours. Wicked was wonderful- I had seen it in NYC a few years back but some of the actors were even better in this production.

Steve Martin and the Blue Grass band at the Kimmel Center was sold out and he put on a fantastic show. Lots of comedy and great music.

Got to walk around and visit the shops in Rittenhouse Square between shows and downpours. Fun shops and I swear they must put some addictive drug in Crumb cupcakes. They are amazingly good. I got a brownie fudge one and a black and white cookie. A sandwich from Jimmy Johns was enjoyed also.

Nice break- now I think I work the next 10 days with just 2 days off........starting tomorrow with a 10 hour day.
