    Default 9-11 Memorial Help

While in New Jersey we plan to spend a day in NYC. We want to start our day at the 9-11 Memorial. I have already reserved our tickets. My question is how do we get there?

I did some research, but I just want to make sure I've got this right. It looks like our best option is to take a train into the city. I think the closest terminal to Fort Dix (where we will be) is Hamilton? Is this correct? We take the train from there to Penn Station, then the subway to the 9-11 Memorial. Does this sound right?

I also found a terminal in Hoboken, NJ. I was thinking we could drive there, get breakfast at Carlo's Bakery, then take the train into NYC. However after some research it appears that there is always a long line to get something at Carlo's. Does anyone know if it's still as popular? Are the waits still hours long at Carlo's?

I recommend taking the train from Hamilton station. That's the train station I use if I'm not leaving my car at my sister's apartment. Very easy to get to there from Fort Dix. Just take I-295 north and look for the signs for the train station with the exit signs.

My sister lives in Weehawken, the town right next to Hoboken. She isn't that big of a fan of Carlo's bakery, saying it's popularity is from the show, not his baked goods. Cheryl is out of the country right now, but I'll see if she can comment further when she returns (my sister is an Intercot member, but posts sparingly).

I would skip Carlo's. A whole lot of hype for just OK pastry plus a line that could make you late for your other activities.
