Any suggestions for Scotland

My sister and her family are going next summer. Any suggestions on what to see...what to avoid....where to stay, they are a family of 5.

I have never been to Europe, but I love the Fodors guides. They are very helpful.

If you get some info, Rita, please post back here. The plan is for my husband and I to go to Scotland in 2015 for our 25th anniversary, so I would be really interested in the details.

Do you have any idea how long they are going for? I'd definitely recommend Edinburgh, there's so much to see. It's a shame that they won't be going in August, as there is a huge music/theatre/comedy festival that takes over the city- although it does mean that it will be very hard to get hotels etc- prices do rise! There's so much history there, and it's very pretty. I'd recommend going to Rosalyn Chapel (just outside Edinburgh) it's the chapel at the end of the Da Vinci Code movie if you have seen it. It's also worth going to one of the Loch's. Loch Lomond is relatively near, and as they will be going in July, can take boating trips, go on jet skis etc.
