Default How are crowds week of 3-16-14 to 3-21-14?

We are planning our first trip to Disney World during the "spring break" season! Can you tell how bad the crowds will be during the week of 3-16 to 3-21-14?

A lot of colleges are out then so crowds might be on the heavier side, but really it depends on Easter, too. When Easter falls in March along with college spring breaks, crowds can be pretty high. I think Easter is April 20 in 2014, so I think your mid-March crowds might be on the more manageable side.

We're going that very same week. I've checked Touring Plans and numbers range from 5s to high 8s on a scale of 1 (least) to 10 (most). Those are based on historical numbers, I believe. Crossing my fingers it's not *that* bad.

My parents always go to WDW the 3rd and 4th week of March. My sister and her family join them for week 3, and we join them for week 4.

I can tell you that the 3rd week of March is better than the 4th. You will notice it get more crowded towards the end of the week.

I recommend that you get to the parks at rope drop. You will be amazed with how light the crowds are during the first hour, even during peak times.

With FP+, we plan on getting to the parks at rope drop, then heading back to the room for a break after lunch. We will then book our FP+ for early evening.

I would also suggest that you eat lunch around 11:00 or 11:15.

Overall, you will find the crowds to be manageable.

We vacationed in 2011 the third week in March it was crowded. Spring break time. But it wasn't unbearable. The only time it was really bad was during the the nighttime castle show and Wishes. The street was filled and we had to do the behind the scenes exit through Magic Kingdom.

We are going again in 2014, but the 4th week [since our schools spring break is there]. It will be busy. But staying on property will make it so nice because we can do some things. Come back, swim, nap, eat dinner and head back out for night time shows.
