    Default Paying for cruise

    Hey Gang,
Since i dont have anything better to do as I sit here in Afghanistan (civilian contractor) I was wondering if i could set up a sort of savings account with Disney? Not have a Cruise booked, but start putting money into a vacation account of sorts. That way when we are ready to book it, we already have a good chunk of it there.

    Is it possible?

Never heard of this. Why not just set up a vacation club account with your bank?

Haven't heard of this either but when we booked our cruise, we just put the deposit down and made online payments when we had extra money. That might work the same way. Stay safe!!!!!!

I agree....start a vacation club with your bank. You will earn interest too.

That way you can use the money for any trip, if you change your mind about the cruise.

Disney doesn't hold money for you...and why would you want them to?

    Be safe there!

    Thanks for the help guys.

I thought that it migh tbe a good idea if i could do it that way. If i just did a bank account then i might take the money out for something shiny but if it was in a Disney account I wouldnt.

Oh well. It is just as well

Default Disney now has a saving account?

Disney now has a savings account that you are able to set up and make payments to on a weekly or monthly basis, it's called Disney Savings Account". There are no fees, no interest and you can take your money out whenever you would like.

I have heard of some people doing something similar by buying Disney Gift Cards. They can be used for anything Disney such as reservations, tickets, dining, etc. I noticed some of them at Sams Club the other day in various denominations from $25 to $100. The only problem with that approach is of course loss or theft. If something happens to the cards, the money is gone.

I know.....it would have to be a pain.

I have also read threads here on intercot where people say they use them for dining and incidentals while at WDW to budget their money. I have never been able to wrap my head around why someone would subject themselves to all that trouble instead of just budgeting and setting aside the money.

I'd be too afraid of loosing the gift cards!

But, I know for many people it really makes a difference and helps them to stay on budget, without the temptation of "going over" or dipping into credit.

We started a high-interest saving account, and use it for our vacations each year. It isn't a lot of interest, but every little bit helps, and having it separate from the "real" money keeps us from dipping into it.

There is also something about the gift card that makes the trip "real", in that you couldn't spend it on anything else ... bad in a lot of ways too though.

There is the new "disneyvacationaccount", but I don't know much else about it, other than it seems to be a savings account with a bit of a "Disney" twist (although you can have the money in it refunded at anytime).

A lot of private schools sell the gift cards as fund raisers too.....I know people around here that get them to pay for their vacation while also supporting their school. I personally find gift cards to be a pain.

It's funny, we were just on the cruise and we were never offered a savings account payment plan. I'm wondering if it is a third party running those accounts.
