    Default A-Rod Suspended for entire 2014 season/postseason-UPDATE

Bye Bye Alex. 162 games and the post season.

Of course, he denies it, and is appealing in federal court.

    Red face

I would have loved a lifetime ban but I am happy with him missing all of next season including the playoffs. Better than only part of next season.

Part of me wants A-Rod to only get his 50 game suspension. But the other side of me says lifetime ban. Now he's suing MLB. What a classless jerk. I'm not sure about his contract but obviously he's not getting paid, but I'd have that year just be extended 1 year so the Yankees are still on the hook for the remainder of it.

It will be interesting when he finally retires or becomes a free agent and NOBODY signs, let alone offers him a contract. His image is so tarnished no one will touch him. He is a cancer to baseball. Having this years HOF class announced last week, I wonder if he even gets his 5% on the ballot to remain on there past his first year.

Chances are, A-Rod is on his last contract anyway. He's 38 now (39 this summer) and has a contract with the Yankees that runs thru 2017, which even after a year suspension still gives him a guaranteed 3 more years to play and $61M that the Yankees have to pay him () Anything that hurts the Yankees is fine by me.

By the time the contract is over and he is 43, I doubt he'd be playing anymore. Any thought of needing to beat Bonds HR record is basically irrelevant as he won't make the Hall of Fame and any record(s) will be tarnished

Hey Hammer, why did I get edited for language? All I recall is saying his records would have******

meaning an asterisk next to them as he and his records would be tainted for playing in the steroid era.

I don't think I used any offensive language, certainly not that I recall. If I did I certainly am

Sorry about that! The board software automatically puts asterisk in if a word is on the "naughty list", so I thought that was done by the software program, not you. My apologies!

    Bye-Bye A-Rod!

I am a Yankee fan, and A-Rod you are a disgrace to baseball.

Take your suspension, hang out in Miami!
You have no class, no clue, and no legacy to hang on to.

NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez has withdrawn his lawsuits against Major League Baseball, Commissioner Bud Selig and the players' association to overturn his season-long suspension, a sign the New York Yankees third baseman may be prepared to accept the penalty.

The notices of dismissal in the two lawsuits were filed Friday in federal court in Manhattan.

"We have been informed that Alex Rodriguez has reached the prudent decision to end all of the litigation related to the Biogenesis matter," Major League Baseball said in a statement Friday afternoon. "We believe that Mr. Rodriguez's actions show his desire to return the focus to the play of our great game on the field and to all of the positive attributes and actions of his fellow Major League Players. We share that desire."

Rodriguez was suspended for 211 games last Aug. 5 for violations of baseball's drug agreement and labor contract, and arbitrator Fredric Horowitz cut the penalty on Jan. 11 to 162 games plus the 2014 postseason.

    Rodriguez sued two days later.

The MLBPA also issued a statement, saying "Alex Rodriguez has done the right thing by withdrawing his lawsuit. His decision to move forward is in everyone's best interest."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
