Default Wheel chair rentals at the park or resort?

My trip is in Sept and a month ago I slipped on some black ice and dislocated AND broke my ankle. The trip is really motivating me to get through my physical therapy.

I wam hoping I can walk ok the entire 10 days we are there. If I do end up needing to rest my ankle for a day, is it easier/better to rent a wheel chair/scooter at the hotel or at the park? My thought is it is better at the hotel so that I can use the wheel chair/scooter at any park but I'm not sure.

To rent at the parks is $12/day (or $10/day for length of stay). But it is complimentary to rent one from your resort (with a $315 refundable deposit).

If you decide to rent through the parks and do the length of stay rental, you just need to show your receipt daily at the park to get a new wheelchair.

    Hope that helps!

While wheelchairs at the resorts are complimentary, they are limited in number and there is no guarantee one will be available when you need it.

Depending on where you are in your recovery come September, you might consider renting a motorized scooter off-site (to be delivered to your resort) so you have it available to you for the duration of your stay. I considered doing this following some foot surgery but found that I could manage without one if I took things slowly. Additionally, I found I did not not have quite the same stamina post-surgery as I did pre-surgery so it did mean spending more time at our resort and leaving the parks earlier in the day. Typically, I could tolerate returning to the parks again in the evening after getting some rest in the afternoon.

The scooter would allow you more individual freedom of movement and would keep the burden off others in your party who might have to push your wheelchair around.

    Good luck with your recovery!

    Thanks for the info.

How far in advance do I need to reserve the scooter?

Do you have the information for setting it up?

There are only 2 or 3 scooter companies that are authorized to deliver to your resort now. The one I have experience with is Apple Scooters. Always had great service and no issues with them. Plus, a ton cheaper than getting one of the on-site scooters at the park.

Since September isn't a super-crowded month you don't have to book way in advance. Even 3-4 weeks out you should be able to get a scooter with no problem. Just go to the website and they'll guide you through the process. It's delivered to, and picked up from, bell services at your resort.

I thought any company can deliver to the resort, however only a few can deliver and leave the equipment with Bell Services.

You would have to be there to receive it from the others.
