AoA Nemo Suite review

We really splurged this last trip and booked a Nemo suite at AoA. Having the extra room was wonderful, especially since my sister came and joined us for a couple of days. I asked for something on the top floor close to the main building and got a top corner room just across from it. The kitchenette and table for 4 was great to have. And two bathrooms, loved that!

Only a few drawbacks. Something about the room seemed not quite as... hmmmm... I guess, 'expensive' as I expected it to? Can't say there was anything horribly cheap looking about it. The bathrooms in particular were really nice! Also, on our first few nights there, the movie by the pool, which was right below our window, was at a reasonable volume. We could hear it, but you'd have to really strain to make out the words. Then, the following nights (when we were actually there to notice) the volume went up so much that it sounded like it was playing right in our room! Not a huge deal, we dealt with it, but jeez! And, finally, housekeeping performed really poorly. I had to call down almost every day to get things they should have refilled while they were in the room - like toilet paper! And it was obvious that they weren't wiping down the table, and were skipping other cleaning as well. After several days of this, I did finally let someone at the front desk know, but that was a couple of days before check out.

That's too bad. I know its disappointing when you splurge and expect something special and it doesn't deliver. Poor housekeeping is inexcusable no matter where you stay.

We stayed there expecting "more" as well. However, in the end, it's still a value resort and it feels like one. We stayed one night in a Cars suite and that was enough. Sorry you had that noise to deal with as well as the poor housekeeping.

No, we only had one night prior to a Disney cruise booked. We booked AoA literally a couple hours before arriving by car as a surprise for our kids (we had reserved a Holiday Inn by the port which we canceled). It was fun for the kids but we were unimpressed overall with the room quality (beds were uncomfortable, sheets were scratchy, a/c didn't work well, etc.). One night, we did a Cars suite which our boys loved, and now it is just a memory since we won't be back there. Just too expensive for what it is.

I think that's it. I thought it wouldn't feel like a value room, but there were elements to it that did. However, overall, we really enjoyed the extra space, everyone was comfortable, the bathrooms were really nice and we loved having two of them!

One night we went to AKL for dinner and I was worried that we would be so wowed by that resort that we wouldn't want to stay in a value again, even in a suite. But we were extremely surprised to find ourselves underwhelmed by AKL! It's not that there was any specific complaint. But it did not give us that really excited feeling that AoA does. There's something about the themeing and mood of that place that just makes us feel immersed in Disney.

We have stayed at the AOA Lion King suite twice last time was in March and we absolutely loved it! Rooms were great, service was great! In October we are staying at AOA again in a Little Mermaid standard room for 3 nights. Love this whole resort.

....the bathrooms in the AoA suites are pretty much the highlight of the "decor` category". (they are really nice)

....the rest of the room(s) have the feeling of a brightly painted college dorm and cafeteria ....lotsa' laminate and particleboard 'furniture'.

Completely agree too. That's a very accurate description of the decor. However, we still loved the extra room and were very comfortable there. We would do it again! Hopefully at a better discount. But, I definitely expect housekeeping to be up to par if we do this again.

My wife and I are torn. We stayed in the AoA last year at this time.

We got upgraded to a Lion King suite because our Little Mermaid room wasn't ready.

We loved the theming, the pool area, and the food court. We also enjoyed the extra room and knew it would be great when we had our children with us.

However, the cost of the room coupled with the distance from the major attractions gave us pause because we can pay the same amount and stay at the WL.

We have stayed at the WL several times and loved it.

So, we are torn between the extra room and proximity to everything, along with being in a deluxe resort.

At least we don't have to decide this for a while.

Very cool upgrade!!

I have to admit, when I looked at the cost of the suite, I thought, holy cow! We could stay at a deluxe for that! But, we had stayed just a couple of nights at AoA on the way to see relatives a couple of years ago and the girls absolutely fell in love with it. We did too! So, we weren't really torn the way you are. We also hadn't stayed at one of the deluxes so didn't have a comparison. I will say, I LOVED the extra space. Somehow, that lessened the chaos of a WDW trip.

Hope something comes up to tip the balance so you have an easier decision!
