Default From Disney resort to Universal for a day

During our stay at Disney, my gf wants to take our son to Universal for the day. What is the easiest way to do this? will we have to take a cab or is there another way?

There is a shuttle that you can get or a car service like Quicksilver.

My only recommendaiton about Universal is to stay on site for a night. The resort pass that lets you to the front of the line makes experiencing the parks much better.

Depending on how many people going, taxi might come out cheaper than car service or shuttle bus. Taxi might also give you most flexibility of what time you leave and come back.

Many people suggest staying on site for a night for the express pass, but depending on what time of year it may or may not be needed. During a busy time I would probably suggest that as well

We've found the taxi option to be the most convenient and the cheapest. It's especially nice to just leave the park when you want and take one of the cabs that are always waiting - no need to call ahead for car service or stick to a shuttle schedule.

I agree with the other posters - an overnight stay is very nice and relaxing because you can really hit up everything without rushing due to the included Unlimited Express passes and score early access time to Universal Studios. If you chose to do this, I recommend doing so at the very beginning or the very end of your stay. If you do so, also don't forget to sign up for the Loews First rewards program for some extra free perks.

    Default Mears

We are also going to Universal just for a day. We are using a service called MEARS. They will pick you yup at your hotel and drop you off right at Universal. It's $20 round trip per person!

We've done that shuttle service as well and it is pretty great! Definitely call first, because I've experienced off-season times where it was not available. The only drawback is that you need to stick to the pickup time, but the savings can be significant especially if you are only 1 or 2 people. For example, we usually pay around $40 - 45 for a cab each way - more if you're at an MK resort. You can also save some $$ with a cab if you take it from DTD if your resort is not in that area of the Disney property.

depending on how many people, we have also just rented a car for the day. It ended up being cheaper than a taxi, and I had the freedom to come and go when I wanted to. Disney has a rental place on site and will pick you up in the morning, and shuttle you back to the hotel when you drop off.

On the other hand, Mears does offer a variety of options and they are super reliable.
