How far out from your trip to do receive the Magic Bands?

If they don't arrive in time, and you get the standard bands at the resort, how easy is it to customize those bands to what would have been on the customized bands that didn't arrive in time?

You should receive your bands 4-6 weeks prior to your arrival. If your bands don't arrive, you will receive generic ones upon arrival and won't be able to customize them as you can online.

We got ours almost exactly 30 days from check in.

The only way you can customize the generic bands is by adding the little snap on character bits or slider covers they sell. Online you can choose a color and they put your name inside it.

It is important to note that even if you "end up" with a grey band (since you can only choose the colour in advance), it takes just a minute or two for the CM to get them linked up to your account. So, colour aside, it isn't a huge deal, you'll still have working MB, without a big hassle.

Even if you don't order a magic band to arrive at your home, you can still customize on MDE and arrange to collect a color band with your name on when you check in. Disney only delivers the bands to mainland US (and possibly Canadian- I'm not too sure) customers. Anybody else collects at check in, and you still receive the nice box with the personalised bands. I believe for my last trip these were still customizable up to 2 weeks before hand. I hope this helps!

Are the Band-its / Sliders/ etc. worth doing or too cumbersome?

I'd say no, but then I'm not a fan on things on my wrist in the first place (I don't wear watches).

Really, as cool as it is, it is JUST your Disney ticket, and I don't see the point of spending more on "bling" for it. But, I know lots of people who love having fun with their MB, so it is really up to you.

The PP is also correct, only US addresses get MB shipped ahead of time. For the rest of us (including Canadians), the personalized bands will be waiting for pick-up at the resort check-in counter. I thought we'd just be handed the bands, so it was quite neat still to get the box and the whole presentation.

Just got the email on Friday (4/10) that our MagicBands are on their way....Should have them today or tomorrow. Our trip is 17 days away!!
