    Default First Time at Poly

Hello hello! Haven't been on here in quite some time.

Booked my next Disney adventure for September and staying at the Poly for the first time ever. It's a solo trip and just a standard room.

Any tips? Besides a Dole Whip every day and Wishes at the beach, anything cool I should be aware of? I know about the smaller pool being closed; not an issue. And I have a breakfast booked at Kona to try Tonga Toast. Not sure what else I should check out or take advantage of.

    Thanks!
    *Cindy

We enjoyed a stroll along the pathway leading to the Grand Floridian. We did some exploring of the Wedding Pavilion and ran across some cute tiny baby turtles along the way. We also loved the convenience of walking to the TTC for the Epcot monorail and the for us it was a closer walk for the MK monorail or ferry as well. In the evenings, there used to be a small "ceremony" to light the tiki torches at the front of the resort - check with the desk staff to see if they still do this. The smaller boat launch is great as well. So much other stuff has changed though - I loved the gallery store but it's gone now.

We are going in October and are staying in the Poly for the first time too! Sad to leave our home (Wilderness Lodge), but excited to try something new with a view of MK!

The Poly looks great- spent time there last week. Still some construction going on but nothing like what was going on in December.

I did not enjoy sitting in the lounge. The music is fun when you get there but I found it annoying after awhile. Nothing like the relaxation I find in the lobby at GF.

The new menu at the counter service is very good. Especially the pork sandwich. And you can still get the adult grilled cheese which is a real treat. Also, you can get the tonga toast for breakfast without going to Kona.

    Have a wonderful time!

We stayed in the Aotearoa building last July. It was the perfect place for us. We had a standard first floor room, near the entrance. I loved it because I was able to get coffee in my refillable mug, sit on the patio, read the newspaper, and watch the monorail go by. I did this every morning before the rest of my family woke up and the resort was still quiet. It was a nice way to begin the day. The main building, parking lot, bus stops, and boat dock aren't too far away. The main pool is just around the corner. I don't think that building is requested as much as some of the others, but it was quiet, yet still close to everything.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone! I'm so excited.

I can now check-in online and you can request a longhouse. Any suggestions? I see eandrsmom liked Aotearoa. What about Rarotonga? Or Niue? Or does it really not matter?

    Thanks in advance!!

Samoa and Nuie are my family's all-time favorites. We always request a first floor view so we can sit out on the patio.
