    Default Tours worth doing

I have not done too many tours and have the opportunity to do the Wild Africa Trek this winter. Has anyone done this tour? Is it worth the high $$ or should I spend my money on something different? MY DD loves animals and she is a bit of an adventure freak. She also has tons of allergies and would not be able to eat the lunch offered however.
MY thought was that this was unique and different. But it is a lot of money. My DH and DD did the Keys to the Kingdom tour and loved it. I don't want to do that one I want to keep the MK magical.
Any other tours that are recommended? Segway good bad? Epcot tours?

    Thankyou!

The only tour I've done is Behind the Seeds in Epcot. I enjoyed it - the price is right and it didn't take up the whole day. Basically it's an enhanced version of Living With the Land - you go into the greenhouses, they go into detail about how they grow the plants and their current research. There are a couple of little activities they do which make it fun. If your family likes Living With the Land I would recommend it.

    Behind the Seeds is great

Keys to the Kingdom is a fun tour but it's long. If you are a Disney fan that wants to get beyond just going to the parks - this is the one to do. There used to be a full day tour where you would go to multiple parks but I'm not sure if that is offered anymore. If you haven't done it - I'd highly recommend Keys.

We just did the Wild Africa Trek and it was really cool. Very worth it. There are discounts available. The food was very good. We have also done the MK Keys to the Kingdom and very much enjoyed that. A lot of trivia and made us appreciate how MK was made and operates. Behind the seeds is alot of fun also. That one is the least expensive of the 3 we have done.

Over the years I've done, Behind the Seeds, Keys to the Kingdom, Gardens of the World and Undiscovered Future World.

All are great, but my personal favorite was Undiscovered Future World. Great tour. Fantastic Guide.

We have done the Seqway tours (each of them when they offered the two different locations). Segways are just fun to operate and the tour at Fort Wilderness takes you to some pretty areas. On that tour, you wear helmets and they give you a personal listening device that you wear so you can hear what the tour guide is saying. You ride by Bay Lake and overlook to the Contemporary Resort, they take you to the barns to see the horses, and all the way to Wilderness Lodge area. We also got a pin.

I can't speak to the other tours, as we have only done these, but so, so fun!

We have also done the two Segway tours and would highly recommend the Wilderness one. It was a lot of fun.

Like you, I probably will never do any behind the scenes tours that would take away the magic for me.

Always considered the Behind the Seeds tour, but so far, have not tried it.

Behind the Seeds was really great. Wild By Design was really great. The Night Safari (AKL) was really great.

(A friend of mine was one of the designers of the Segway... so the novelty of riding one is not a "draw".)

The Wild Africa Trek is on our list for someday! Everything I've heard about it has been good. We have done Keys to the Kingdom, Magic of Steam Trains and the Segway tour at Fort Wilderness campground. We enjoyed all of them, but the Segway tour was our favourite. The tour guides started out very serious, but loosened up as our tour progressed. I think that they are afraid of anyone hurting themselves on the segways. The steam train tour was great and allowed us to take some great pics of the MK completely empty as it starts first thing in the morning,

    Have a great trip!

DW and I did Wild Africa Trek and Dolphins in Depth Dec. 2014 and we loved both !!!! felt they were both worth the $$ and am thinking about doing again in April 2016. We did Keys to the Kingdom tour years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it was worth every $.

We love Behind the Seeds so much that we did it twice!

This June, we did the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour. It was a great tour with a bit of backstage and behind the scenes info presented in such a way that the magic is still there. It still might be a bit much for those who don't want any backstage info at all though.

We've done Behind the Seeds and enjoyed it so much that we brought friends and my parents on it this past trip. We also *loved* the Backstage Safari at Animal Kingdom. Less adventure than Wild Africa Trek, but a lot of backstage information about the care and keeping of the animals, we got to see where meals were prepared, walk through the veterinary clinic at Rafkiki's Planet Watch, and then we got a personal ride through Killamanjaro Safari with our tour guide at a slower pace and with more stops than the usual ride.

    NEXT TRIP -
    WDW 08/18 ~ First family trip w/our 2 yo, 5 yo, my parents & our best friends &their 2 &5 yr olds.

I might be too late but wanted to chime in. My husband and I LOVED this tour. Yes it is expensive and not sure I would do it for the whole family because of the cost but it was worth every penny. We got to feed the hippos and walk over the gators on a bridge. We rode right up the giraffes and they came right up to the truck. They were inches away from us. The lunch was wonderful and they will adjust it for your daughter if you tell them what she can not eat when you make the reservations....they did for me.

I took the plunge and I am scheduled to do the Wild Africa Trek at AK first week in NOV. I am excited and we got a great deal on the trek. My only concern now is the food. We have fish shellfish and nut allergies. I said I would be fine with chicken nuggets and french fries and the CM chuckled but I was serious. Since that is just a small part of the trek I am not concerned.

She probably laughed because that is not the kind of food they serve on the tour. You may have already taken it but if not they will take care of all of your dietary needs....I am a vegetarian and my husband doesn't eat seafood. We both still had a wonderful meal.
