Is this another "value" resort? No express pass included in your stay?

I need to look at a map to see where this hotel is located in relation to the other hotels and parks.

While it looks like a deluxe - I can't find where express pass is included - which would be odd given it's location. It's located on the same side as Royal Pacific resort within walking distance of the parks.

    Details on the resort:

An Island Jewel in the Heart of an Unforgettable Adventure

The Caribbean-inspired Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Orlando® Resort transports guests to a paradise where shoes are optional, blue waterfalls cascade across lush grounds, and the invitation to cool relaxation is everywhere.

Reminiscent of a leisurely estate in the heart of the tropics, every comfort has been built into this brand new jewel. With a luxuriously landscaped 16,000-square-foot, resort-style pool surrounded by cascading waterfalls as its centerpiece, Loews Sapphire Falls Resort captivates at every turn. From the ruins of the stone turret in the lobby to the inviting island charm of the 1,000 guest rooms and suites, guests will be surrounded by a vivid and textured haven that is old-world and chic while still modern and timeless.

Guests staying at this on-site hotel enjoy exclusive benefits at Universal Orlando® Resort including Early Park Admission* to The Wizarding World of Harry PotterTM one hour before the theme park opens; complimentary water taxi and shuttle service to and from the Universal Orlando theme parks and Universal CityWalk®, and much more . Loews Sapphire Falls Resort offers an island escape in the heart of an unforgettable adventure.

That would indicate while it's a beautiful - deluxe resort - it does not get universal express

Sapphire Falls will be in the same category as Royal Pacific, but will not have express pass. In order to keep express pass "express" only the original 3 resorts will have the benefit.

It is directly across the lagoon from Royal Pacific and will have both boat and bus transportation.

I get wanting it to be express but to have a hotel in the same class but not have that crucial amenity - I'll have to personally pass on staying there (which is a shame).

Will be interesting to see what the price differential is between this new one and the existing 3 deluxe...

Prices are supposed to fall between Royal Pacific and Cabana Bay. I would like to stay there as well but the no express is really a shame.

If they offered FOTL to all resorts I would be afraid that they would eventually discontinue this perk to all.

I think they should eliminate it as "free". Give a big discount to on property guests, but make everyone pay something. Maybe free for Club Level guests or something.

Why would you want them to eliminate a free perk?

Because they keep opening more hotels and it is kind of messed up that these hotels don't get squat, but yet the others do. It's obviously a numbers problem, but by charging for it at all levels, less people will utilize it overall. Just think they need to level the playing field among hotel guests now that they are growing.

Better idea.... Open 3rd gate, keep the perk and extend it to all of the Deluxe resorts.

Yes, that would be an acceptable solution.

I have to disagree with you. If you are paying more for the top three hotels it is a level playing field. The hotels that don't have the free Express Pass are cheaper....You actually are already paying for the Express Pass in your hotel cost. Right now it is a nice perk because only three hotels are offering it. By offering it to all hotels not only will it water down the perk but will make people in the regular lines wait longer.

It's not that clear. When I stayed at Cabana Bay, our room was $135/night. There were two of us. Royal Pacific would have been $220/night. Express Pass for the days we went would have cost $89/person. The "deluxe" resorts are simply more expensive because they are nicer, rooms are more luxurious, tye amenities are better, etc. They are not more expensive because they include express pass. Frankly, with Sapphire Falls, rooms will be very close in price to Royal Pacific. And still, no express pass? Doesn't make sense. Giving Express Pass as a free perk to onsite guests made sense when there was low attendance and only 3 hotels. Things have changed. They should revamp the express pass system to make this perk something all resort guests can take advantage of.

Call me crazy but I NEVER endorse a vendor taking away a perk from a customer. If you feel the SF will not be a value without the EP you can just stay at one of the Deluxe resorts. And I guess we will just have to disagree why the Deluxe Hotels and their perks are more expensive than the other onsite properties. Extending the EP to five hotels will water the perk down.

I totally agree with you - the cost of EP is not a free perk for the original Universal Resorts, it's something we pay more money to get. It'll be very interesting to see where the room prices for SF level off. They might start with the same cost structure as Portofino and Hard Rock, but they'll be hard-pressed to get those rates without EP. I'm sure SF will be a beautiful resort, but I have to figure a large percentage of people stay on site at Universal for the advantages it offers at the parks. The only advantage that I see listed is getting into the park an hour early first thing in the morning - certainly not worth an extra $100+ per night over other options in the area.

I also agree that 5 hotels with EP would not be a very good thing.....

At least they could offer the LIMITED (one entry per attraction) Express Pass for Cabana Bay and Sapphire Fals. Let the other three resorts keep their UNLIMITED Express Pass.
