Default Sell me on the Campground

Tell me all about it, Fort Wilderness fans!

Here are a few of my questions:

    1. Are there any "gear rental" places for airplane riding campers?
    2. Are you allowed to have an individual campfire at your campsite?
    3. How are the pools?

That's all I have for now! Thanks in advance.

Ok first of all I've never been to the campgrounds and I cannot answer any of your questions. But there is something valuable I learned from watching other Disney Youtubers staying there. If you are staying in the campgrounds (not cabins), you will not have wifi. When you check in you'll need to ask for a router and they give it to you for your stay. However, the router only connects to laptops, not phones. I realize I'm not "selling" the campground but just thought I'd tell you what little I know.

A friend stayed there for a family reunion last summer. They rented a camper locally which was delivered, set up and hooked up/plugged in the day before they arrived. When their vacation was over the company came and took care of the disconnect. She said it was the best time ever! I don't know about individual camp fires, but there is a campfire overnight with Chip and Dale.

Default Sell me on the Campground

We absolutely love the campground but it's really hard to get in. We have been trying like crazy to get in all year before the heat of summer and haven't been able to. I also checked most of the fall and they're sold out also.

The pools are great- the big one has a nice kiddy area with small slides. The nightly sing a long is fun. Campfires are allowed in "approved" fire pits that you must bring.

I've read that they rent gear but I have t done it and don't know the details.

We are planning our first campground trip this summer, and I thought I'd share why we decided to give it a try. Now, we are staying in a cabin, since we don't have an RV, and it is just too hot (for us at least) to tent camp in the Florida summer.

We've been to FW a number of times and love that it can be a vacation in itself, a real break from the parks. The main pool was fairly recently re-done, and looks wonderful. There is also a quiet pool over by the cabins, which I hear is often quite empty. We've enjoyed the extra activities, such as archery, the horseback riding and the campfire (with smores of course). It is a great place to spend a "day off" from the parks.

We did look at renting an RV, and yes, there are places that will come in and set everything up for you, and take it back down again. Super easy and I found a number that seem to be FW "experts" they are there so often. So this is most definitely an option.

I also believe that you are allowed to have a campfire, but it can't be an open flame. For that, the big "traditional" campfire, you'll have to go to the one that FW puts on.

I know we haven't been yet, but that's why we've chosen FW for our upcoming Disney trip! Whatever you choose, I hope you have fun planning (not to mention a great trip).

This campground is like no other you will every know! You can contact the Reservations Department and I believe they have an option where you can choose to add "tent" camping to your reservation. However, if you Google "Ft. Wilderness Camper Rentals" you will come up with several rental company's that will set up/take down. http://www.floridacamperrental.com/ - here is one that is highly recommended. Again, you can even pick the size of the campers. They are supplied with everything, all you have to bring - get is your FOOD!!!! Also, some of the places also rent the Golf Carts with the Camper Rentals. This is a very clean campground! Bath Houses, if you have to use are wonderful! You cannot go wrong if you choose Ft. Wilderness!

The campsites are very popular. You would need to book as soon as you are able.

I believe you can book a campsite 500 days in advance of arrival.
