    I'm at WDW now, checked into SSR in the middle of the whole mess. Apparently they ran an update to the computer system Monday night that made the entire system crash. Our bands still don't work. No using our DDP at all. We have to charge our meals and then get a room credit for them. They won't refund the money back to our card. No room charging. We haven't been to a park yet today, so I have no idea if our APs will work on our bands, or our FPs. We've made 7 trips to the front desk since yesterday afternoon and have lost a day and a half of our vacation to this disaster. To say this is a fiasco would be the understatement of the year. I am beyond frustrated at this point. I said it when Disney first came out with the magic bands, and I'll say it again: the bands and the whole system are the worst things Disney has done in years.

    What the heck? Are they refunding you the cost of the dining plan, then? The plan is cheaper, so you're probably spending more money than you would've if you could've used the dining plan. That is ridiculous.

    I'm going to guess that there are probably folks there like myself who bought the dining plan in advance and didn't budget to have money for food. What a horrible experience for those folks.

    Eek! I guess I better make sure I have a backup payment option on me at all times. Isn't the point of the magic bands that you can leave your wallet behind??? I will probably bring a gift card with me, loaded with about $100, just in case.

    So sorry everyone is having these issues. Completely ridiculous. With a company with this much $$$ this should not occur.

    Maybe this is the push Disney needs to permanently fix these ongoing computer issues.

    They aren't refunding any part of the dining plan. They just put the cost of our meal at Wolfgang Puck Express today on our room account as a credit, and said we wouldn't get an actual refund to our credit card until we hit $2,000. There was a family in front of us who ordered their entire meal, went to use their bands to pay with their DDP, were told they could only use cash or credit card, and left with no food because they had neither with them. The dad said, "But we didn't bring any cash or our cards because we thought everything was on our bands!" The cashier was less than sympathetic and just seemed annoyed that he had to void their order.

    During our 7th trip to the SSR front desk, one of the managers was nice enough to ask if we were going to a park, to which I replied "Epcot." So he gave all of us 3 FPs to use in any ride in Epcot today. We used one, on Test Track, because frankly, there's not much to do in that park that we didn't already have a FP for. But I appreciated the gesture.

    The system seems to be working again, at least for now. It apparently came back fully sometime after 3:00 p.m. And we were able to use our bands to get into Epcot and to use our DDP at Coral Reef for dinner. But you can bet we are carrying our AP cards, cash, and credit cards in our bags with us from now on! What an absolute disaster.
