Q re: Magic Bands

Hi!

We'll be staying at CBR, so will have the option of Magic Bands. BUT - we'll be purchasing our tickets through Undercover Tourist unless some crazy, magical deal comes out - their tickets are RFID-enabled, and can be linked to Magic Bands.

My question - will we only get Magic Bands with our on-site ressie IF we buy park tickets, too? And if we do get them with our room, can we then link them to our UT tickets? I know the Magic Bands can be used for purchases and as a room key, so I was guessing we'd get them, regardless, but wasn't sure if they can be linked to tickets not purchased through Disney.

When staying onsite you get MagicBands with your reservation. You'll be able to customize them until 30 days before your trip at which time they will be shipped to you. I usually go in when I link my reservation and do it so I don't forget. You'll also be able to link your UT tickets through MDE, no problem.

Yep - you get the bands with a room reservation regardless of whether or not you've purchased your tickets along with the room.

Well that's pretty simple. The MDE app will walk you through it. In the profile section, there's a button to link tickets. Just identify the person you want to link to the ticket and press the link.That will open the camera on your phone and all you do is scan the back of the ticket. DONE!.

I think you'll find it's much smoother this time around (at least I hope so!). We had no problem doing this. We did our last trip the other way around - made CBR booking through Hotels.com, and bought tickets from Disney. We still had our bands shipped to us and we had no issues linking our tickets, FP+ reservations, etc. It seems like they have worked a lot of the bugs out over the last couple years.

Wow - hotels.com? I'll have to check that out, we belong to the site. Were the prices substantially better, or was it a time of year when there were no discounts? It seems June often has had a 25% discount on moderates, but I'm definitely going to look into this! Thx!

The prices were the same, but since Jamie travels for work so much we booked with "free" nights.

Ahhh, that makes sense... if we can't get a discount, or if the discounted prices are similar, I think we'll do the same!! Gotta love those free nights!
