    Default Split Stays

My cousin is staying 5 nights at Kidani, and they just extended their trip one more night at CBR. Trying to find out about how they would get their luggage over to CBR, and also, what's the best way for them to get over to CBR. Also, is ME info updated with their pickup/dropoff hotel location?

Transferring luggage amongst resorts is easy - Disney will do it for them. They can just head off and do whatever they planned to do that day and then use Disney transportation to get to the new resort. They should plan, however, to be without the luggage for a while as the transfer may take a bit. On the couple of occasions that we've done a split like that, we've just cabbed over to the second resort and brought our luggage with us. Typically, the room is not ready when we arrive so we just had it stored at the second resort.

I would suggest they call Magical Express directly to have their change in travel plans updated.

Having done several split stays, I can concur with Linda. Either take a cab/Uber to the new resort and take your stuff with you, or let Disney transfer your luggage for you. The process for Disney to transfer your luggage is very simple.

On the day of the move, call bell services and tell them that you are moving to another resort. Depending on the hour and how busy bell services is, it could be up to an hour or more for them to arrive at your room. I have taken to actually calling the night before and scheduling a pickup time with bell services and when doing that, they have always been at my room about 5 minutes early. Bell Services will tag all of your items and give you claim checks for the items. You will be expected to tip.

Your bags will then be transferred to your new resort, and you are free to go about your day.

Regardless of when your bags are picked up in the morning they will not actually be transported to the new resort until around 3pm, so don't plan on seeing them until after then. It generally works out OK since check-in isn't officially until 4pm. Bell Services at the new resort will NOT deliver your bags automatically. You must be checked-in and call down to Bell Services from your room and ask to have your bags delivered. You will be expected to tip again upon delivery of your bags.

As for DME, you will need to call them directly and let them know of the change of resort and date of pickup. That call should be made as soon as the reservations are confirmed.

Thank you both so much. I will let them know. They were on the phone with Magical Express earlier updating things. I appreciate the info!

For years and years I have been reading that Bell Services will not put your luggage in your room until you are inside your new room. We resort hoped twice in one trip recently and after the first time was a big disaster (it took way more time to carry our stuff into our AKL room since we were at the very end of the hallway) my wife just insisted that we let Disney move our bags for our second hop. I didn't want to do it because I was expecting to not get our bags until we were in our new room (which would have been very late that night) because I had read so many times how they won't deliver to an empty room (which I always assumed was because they couldn't get a tip to deliver to an empty room).

So our bags were picked up at AKL and moved to Pop, and much to my surprise the bags were in the room at Pop as soon as we walked in. I was very surprised, and my wife was very happy to say "I told you so!"

I wish I knew why it was done this way, and more importantly, I wish it was done this way more consistently. We had not "checked in" at Pop yet, and yet our bags were still delivered. My only guess as to why it may have been done this way was because we used the Direct-To-Room option, I had the room paid off in full prior to my arrival, and our room assignment had been made and texted to me early that morning. We never even went to the front desk at all, we just went straight to the room and there was our bags waiting for us.
