Default Resort charge your card daily?

A DVC member recently told me Disney applied his room charges to his CC on file daily. I didn't think this was the case and they only charged when you checked out or hit your resort-level limit.

Anyone else experience the daily charges? This will seriously impact my budgeting if it's the case!

In January it was posted on checkout day for me. As far as I know, when using a major cc, it's $1500 or checkout day. Perhaps the cc they were using had a limit on it?

Our last stay at Aulani in November had an end of stay charge. I would find it hard to believe that Disney would want to go that route against what other hotel chains traditionally do. I would think it would be an insult. Generally speaking the hotel extends you a line based on backing from your card. This would really surprise me. I would also think it would be in Disney's best interest to give you that big "gotcha" moment on checkout whereas if you are getting charged several hundred a day some may choose to slow the spend closer to week's end.

We just got back. It was one charge on the last day. I had a $50 gift card that we forgot to spend. I asked the front desk to apply it to our charges. The cast member was able to credit the credit card charged $50. In past trips, there have been charges when we reached the $1500 limit. Then we could put more on the room charge.

How much was the person spending each day? Maybe they were hitting the limit each day!

Ha....good point! I didn't get that impression, however. I mean, with DVC/Deluxe now being $2K, that's a whooollllllle lot of Mickey Bars.

I don't really see what the difference is, $7000 is $7000 whether they hit you in one whack or seven $1000 whacks. I wouldn't ever know the difference anyway though since I only look at my credit card charges at the end of my monthly billing cycle.

We usually stay at POP. The room charges limits are low, around $500. When reached they have to run the card in order for you to charge more on your magicband/key. I tend check often so we can charge to room key, rather than carry card or cash.

Just got back from the poly and our card was not charged until checkout. I inquired about their policy on this at check in and was told if you reach your limit, only then is your card run.

I have heard of DVC renters skipping out on room charges and leaving the member with the bill. Maybe this is a way for DVC to prevent this from happening?

We were staying on rented DVC points, from a friend, and our card was not charged until checkout.
