Default Something to be aware of

I just saw this and thought I'd pass along.

If you are visiting Walt Disney World in the near future be aware that scammers are calling guests’ resort rooms late at night asking for their credit card information. According to streamingthemagic.com, a guest was called at 12:07 a.m. from a number that posed as the front desk of her Walt Disney World Resort. Fortunately, the guest did not hand over her private information, but when she reported the incident to the front desk the next morning not only did the desk verify that it wasn’t Disney calling her, but they also stated that scammers have tried this tactic before!

Be aware that Disney will not call a guest’s room after 10:30 p.m. Additionally, never disclose your private information from an undisclosed phone number who is demanding your information. If something like this happens to you hang up, and call an official Disney phone number back directly, or talk to the front desk. Walt Disney World is the most magical place on earth, but it still won’t stop some scammers from trying to take advantage of trusting guests.

This happened to us at POFQ last year!! My husband answered the phone and the caller pretended to be a cast member at the front desk and said that the computers had shut down and they needed to reenter credit card information --- my husband was like uhhh are you serious? He smelled through it right away and the guy was actually arguing with him on the phone. We called the front desk to let them know and they certainly were like of course that was not us, and the cops came to our room with the manager and they took a report (and gave us fast passes for the next day).
Had previous account but can no longer access :(

This has been going on for a few years. Disney used to put a warning flyer in the room.

Jeez...terrible. We get enough scam phone calls at home. Can we enjoy our vacation time, please?
    Nice work, pal.

Yeah, never give out any personal information over the phone for something that you did not initiate.

Wow, everyone is nicer than me after midnight.... I'd have a few words for anyone, regardless if it was disney or a scam.

I hate the pizza scam. I hate all the extra paper, etc.
