If you are touring a resort, are there places to charge your phone?

There aren't "charging stations" at the resorts, but especially in the food courts there are often outlets on the wall that you could plug your own charger into.

You could bring those usb stick chargers.

Disney also now has a service for getting fresh charge sticks at the park.

You can buy a portable battery that will charge your phone fully three times for less than those Fuel rods they sell. Mine was $30 on Amazon. It's a Anker brand portable charger. It also has quick charge technology so it charges my phone fully from empty in under 30 min. It's the size of a credit card. Super easy to carry to the parks.

They have one that is a bit bigger than a pack of smokes, and it'll charge several times over, plus can jumpstart your car.

I agree, that seems to be the better route. But the service is good in a pinch, and apparently you can swap them out as you go during your trip to get fresh sticks.

I agree the Fuel rod thing is convenient, but they don't even give you one full charge.

However, it should be noted that there is a pretty large upcharge when buying them AT Disney. You can get one for about 33% less by purchasing the initial Fuel Rod online at their website. Disney charges $30. Fuel Rod charges $20 for the starter kit.

Are the ones at Disney actual fuel rods and not just along the same idea?

So you can purchase a fuel rod online on their site and you can exchange at all the Onsite Disney locations? I had checked the fuel Rod site and it does not show Disney parks as participating locations.

If that is the case I will definitely grab them ahead of time at the lower cost.

Awesome, I just ordered mine directly from Fuel Rod.

On the Fuel Rod site they are $19.99 + $5.00 shipping, at Disney they are $30, so really only a $5 difference.

I bought 1 for now, if we should feel we each need our own after we arrive at Disney I will just grab another 1 for the $5 difference.

I love the charge yourself or quick swap idea, very convenient!

DW and I have "Mophie" power packs on our iPhones. Very convenient, recharges the phone fully and quickly, and gives the phone a better feel in the hand. http://www.mophie.com

My wife and son had those types of cases on the last trip, they have since upgraded their phone. It was great, you could just plug it in at night, it charged both phone and case and you would have a charge all day between the case and the phone. Like you said the phone had a much better grip and was far more protected for a Theme Park Trip.

My fuel rod arrived in the mail today. I tested it out by hooking it to my phone that was at 83% and it took about 30 minutes to take it back up to 100%. Although that may seem kind of slow I will add that while it was charging on the Fuel Rod I also had some constantly polling work related Apps running on the phone which acts sort of like MDE does and kills your battery in about half the time as usual without the apps.

I am going to test it fully by allowing my phone to go real low and then see how long it takes to charge it on airplane mode. Either way I'm sure it's still going to come in handy when my phone is about to die.

I still have a Samsung Note 4 and don't have plans on swapping phones anytime soon because it has a removable battery. I have 4 extra batteries that I rotate through when necessary while on trips. It is very rare for me to run the second one dead but at WDW while standing in lines I found myself looking things up for business, ordering supplies and randomly googling things so I would burn through a couple of batteries each day. It is so much easier and more convenient having a phone with removable batteries you can swap out.

My wife and kids have phones that do not have removable batteries (Note 5 and iPhone). We have 4 10,000 maH portable chargers similar to the fuel rods that we recharge each night. They rarely run 2 dead and they will fully charge your phone usually 3 times per charger. They aren't expensive either, I think I paid around $25 each.

Dont be afraid to unplug something too. Just plug it back in when you are done.
